Goutam Ghose (also known as Gautam Ghosh) (born 24 July 1950) is an Indian film producer, composer, and cinematographer who works mainly in Bengali cinema.

Early life

Goutam Ghose was born in Calcutta, India, on July 24th, 1950, to Santana and Prof. Himangshu Kumar Ghose. His kindergarten days began at the Diocesan School in St John's (now an all-girls school). He attended class 4 before moving to Cathedral Missionary Boys' School, which is located nearby. He graduated from the University of Calcutta.

Career

In 1973, he started making documentaries. In Calcutta, Took active part in a group theatre movement. I also worked as a photojournalist for a brief period of time. In 1973, he made his first film, New Earth, followed by the Hungry Autumn. Since then, he has made a number of feature films and documentaries. Ghose was heavily influenced by the film of Akira Kurosawa, Satyajit Ray, Ritwik Ghatak, Tapan Sinha, Asit Sen, who had ascertained a new period in Bengali cinema through his work.

Padma Nadir Majhi, Kaalbela, and Moner Manush were three of his best films. He's the face of a Hollywood film.
