Club career

Giovani Casillas made his first team debut in the 2011 World Football Challenge in a friendly against FC Barcelona, where he scored the third goal in a 4-1 victory. In a 1-0 Pumas-Chivas match on August 6, 2011, Jess Sánchez made his professional debut aged 17 years old on August 6, 2011. However, he was sidelined by a knee injury for the remainder of the season. He rejoined the first squad in 2012 and made six appearances, two as a starter. He has appeared in four Copa Libertadores 2012 matches.

Chivas USA, a sister club of Giovani Casillas and teammates, Mario de Luna and Edgar Mejia, were loaned from CD Guadalajara on February 21, 2013. In a 3-1 victory over FC Dallas on March 10, 2013, he scored his first professional goal against FC Dallas. In the 93rd minute, the goal was on a scoreboard at a stoppage time with support from fellow Guadala loanee Edgar Mejia.

International career

Casillas was a member of the Mexico U17 team that triumphed in the 2011 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
