Giambattista Valli Career

Career

Valli migrated to Paris and spent time as Creative Director for Emanuel Ungaro from 1988 to 2004 after stints at Roberto Capucci (1986–1990), Fendi (1990–1995) and Krizia (1995–1996). Ungaro credited Valli with restoring the house and naming him as his replacement when he retired in 2004. The Ferragamo family, which owned Ungaro, had fired him shortly after an internal confrontation.

Valli began his eponymous brand in 2005, heralding his first ready-to-wear show in Paris, where he had migrated from Italy to fulfill his ever-inpiring dream of having a true "Maison."

In Paris, Giambattista Valli's ready-to-wear and haute couture collections alternate. He is one of the few non-French designers to be accepted into the prestigious Chambre Syndicate de la Haute Couture. In July 2011, he unveiled his first Couture collection.

The brand has also been working with MAC Cosmetics since 2005.

Giambattista Valli is the brand's owner, and Groupe Artémis holds a minority stake. The company's headquarters are located in a historic building on Rue Boissy d'Anglas, which also houses its main store, which was entirely dedicated to ready-to-wear collections, leather products, and jewelry, including shoes, bags, and jewelry. The brand has flagship stores in Paris, London, Milan, Saint Tropez, Saint Tropez, Doha, Seoul, and Beijing, as well as internationally distributed with more than 245 selling points.

Giambattista Valli took over production and distribution in-house in 2017 after the expiration of a deal with Italian fur-maker Ciwifurs for the brand's own fur coats and jackets.

Giambattista Valli's ready-to-wear, couture, and collaborations had a $80 million annual revenue by 2012.

Giambattista Valli, Italy's younger sister ready-to-wear brand, unveiled Giamba, a new, younger sister ready-to-wear line, during a runway show in Milan in 2014.

Giambattista Valli designed a spring collection for 7 for All Mankind in late 2014.

Giambattista Valli, the brand's Creative Director from 2008 to 2017 created a new language of refined activewear for the brand, as well as expanding the use of women's puffer jackets.

Giambattista Valli launched an activewear capsule collection in 2017, including coats, puffer jackets, sweatshirts, and track suits.

Giambattista Valli, a honish outfit, launched a capsule collection for both men and women with H&M in 2019, the first time he has ventured out into menswear.
