Career
Franklin was hired to be an extra in Destiny's Child's "Bills, Bills, Bills" in 1999 while living in Los Angeles. It was there that she met with group members Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, LeToya Luckett, and LaTavia Roberson. Jane Doe, a fledgling singing group, was in the process of disbanding at the time. Mathew Knowles invited Franklin and Michelle Williams to join Destiny's Child in January 2000, swapping previous group members LeToya and LaTavia without notice. In February 2000, the two were introduced to fans by appearing in "Say My Name"'s music video. Franklin toured and performed with the group, as well as appearing in "Jumpin', Jumpin"'s music video. Franklin embarked on a solo career after leaving Destiny's Child. She was signed to and dropped from Fo' Reel, where she performed a song titled "Get at Me" with Method Man from 2002 to 2003. Street Family Entertainment, a Fabolous street brand, followed her for two years before being dropped in 2005. Franklin appeared in the 1999 feature film Trippin' and began an acting career before joining Destiny's Child. He appeared in 2004's The Brewster Project.
