Brian Joo Life

Brian Joo (born January 10, 1981), better known as Brian, is an American-born South Korean K-pop and R&B recording artist best known as one half of R&B's Best in the Sky.

The Brian was his first solo album, and it was released in December 2006.

Manifold's second solo album was released in December 2009. He had two birth names: Brian Gintaek Joo for American and Joo Jin-taek for Korean.

Brian Minkyu Joo for American and Joo Min-kyo for Korean later changed both of his real names to Brian Minkyu Joo.

Early life and education

Brian Joo was born in Los Angeles, California, to Korean immigrant parents on January 10, 1981. Joo Jin-taek (Korean: ), but his father changed it to Joo Min-gyu (Korean: ) when he was three years old. Joo grew up in New Jersey and spoke Korean at home. His parents worked at Atlantic City casinos, and his brother, Jason Joo, is an officer in the United States Navy.

A friend arranged an audition for Brothers Entertainment without Joo's knowledge while attending Holy Spirit High School. Several Korean-Americans who want to work in South Korea have joined the company and are looking for a career in entertainment. After many months of preparation, he was sent to SM Entertainment in South Korea, and on December 9, 1999, he made his debut as one of the two founding members of Fly to the Sky, alongside Hwanhee, at the age of 17.

Joo was accepted to Rutgers University but did not attend due to the demands of his music career. He later attended Dongguk University, where he graduated from the Department of Theatre and Film.

Brian Joo Career

Solo career

Joo became a co-host of Show in May 2006. Jang Mi-inae, an actor, appears in Music Core. He received the Popularity Award at the 2006 MBC Entertainment Awards for his participation on the show later this year.

On December 18, 2006, Joo's debut solo album, The Brian, was released. The album featured diverse genres, such as soul and jazz. Joo said on the album that he wanted to gain more recognition as an artist rather than being known as "Fly to the Sky without Hwanhee." He referred to one of his reasons for recording a solo album: a man who had a dream to make a solo album.

The album debuted at #7 on the monthly Recording Industry Association of Korea's album chart and has sold 15,376 copies by the end of December. The album's lead single, a ballad titled "Don't Go," topped various South Korean real-time music charts on its debut and was ranked first on Inkigayo on January 21. Joo was diagnosed with vocal cord nodules while promoting the album and had to cancel his schedule to avoid more injury.
