Erika Jane Christensen (born August 19, 1982) is an American Scientologist, actor, and singer whose filmography includes appearances in Traffic (2000), Swimfan (2002), The Banger Sisters (2004), The Perfect Score (2004), How to Rob a Bank (2005), The Case for Christ (2017).
She received the MTV Movie Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Cast in a Motion Picture and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture together with her co-stars for her role in Traffic. Early life
Christensen was born in Seattle, Washington, the niece of Kathy (née Hendricks), a building manager), and Steven Christensen, an insurance agent and human resource specialist. She has an older half-brother, Nick, and two younger twin brothers, Dane (who appeared in the 2005 film The Upside of Anger) and Brando. She has ancestry from Denmark, Icelandic, Swedish, Norwegian, Welsh, Welsh, and Irish descents.
Christensen lived in Seattle until age four, when her family and her family were relocated to suburban Los Angeles, California. She began appearing on television in McDonald's and Volvo commercials. Christensen is a member of the Church of Scientology. While living in Seattle, her parents became Scientologists in their twenties, and she raised her as a Scientologist. Her parents also decided to homeschool her.
Personal life
Christensen married cyclist Cole Maness in November 2014. They married in Palm Springs, California, on September 5, 2015, and now live in Los Feliz, Los Angeles. Both parents have two children, who were born in June 2016 and August 2018.
Career
Christensen began her professional life with a supporting role in the comedy film Leave It to Beaver and a one-episode guest appearance on the drama series Nothing Sacred, both of which were released/aired in 1997. She went on to appear in several other television series in the late 1990s, including Frasier, The Practice, 3rd Rock from the Sun, and Touched by an Angel. She appeared in the 1999 Disney Channel original film Can of Worms. She appeared on the short-lived CBS sitcom Thanks for the Acting Abigail Winthrop. She appeared in Michael Jackson's music video for his song "Childhood" with actress Jena Malone in the same year.
