In 1982, he obtained his SAG card. He appeared in films including 1988's Elvis & Me and 1989's Turner & Hooch, as well as a number of guest appearances on television over the next decade.
Henson starred Fulton Reed in all three films in the Mighty Ducks trilogy, from 1992 to 1996. The Mighty Ducks (1994) and D3: The Mighty Ducks (1996). He owes "a substantial [his] work" to those films, according to TV Guide. "I'm still, more than anything, get credited for The Mighty Ducks." I adore it. I would get embarrassed when I was younger. I was playing baseball growing up, and I'd be playing baseball, and the other team would be yelling at me and stuff. I adore those films. These things come once in a lifetime, and I am so lucky as a child and as an adult.
He appeared in films such as The Mighty, She's All That, Odle Hands, O. Dumb, and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd and The Butterfly Effect in his early twenties. He appeared in the 1999 television film 'The Daniel Huffman Story' and the 2003 film "The Battle of Shaker Heights.' Henson, alongside fellow actor Josh Hartnett, ran a film production company called Roulette Entertainment during this period. He appeared in movies including Lords of Dogtown and Deja Vu, and later made guest appearances on a number of television shows, including a four-episode arc on CBS's Smith.
In the 2013 biopic Jobs, Henson portrayed Apple Computer engineer Andy Hertzfeld. He was cast as Pollux in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2. Henson appeared Foggy Nelson in all three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil, beginning in 2015. In June 2014, Marvel announced Henson's casting. Henson was turned off during the audition for Foggy Nelson, which was held via video conference call, and appeared upside down to some in the interview. This mishap convinced the show's executives that he was the right one for the role. Henson expressed his excitement about Foggy's role in the film, saying, "I was really excited as I was getting the scripts and finding that Foggy wasn't just a useless sidekick." He's not just comic relief. He is, as I said, one of those things. He does have comic relief, but it was thrilling to learn that these other characters will have their own path and their own problems that they are dealing with." Henson has appeared in the crossover miniseries The Defenders and a cameo appearance in Jessica Jones and Luke Cage's second season, as well as in the forthcoming Disney+ revival series Daredevil: Born Again (2024).
