Early life
Brittany Nicole Carpentero was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 20, 1988, to an African American mother and a Puerto Rican father.
Career
Diamond joined the crime Mob at the age of fifteen in 2004. Crime Mob's single "Knuck If You Buck" was the first to be recognized as Platinum in the United States in 2004. Later this summer, they debuted Crime Mob, their first album. "Rock Yo Hips," the company's next charting hit, was released in August 2006 and was followed by Hated on Mostly in March 2007.
Diamond left Crime Mob in November 2007 to pursue a solo career and a signed management contract with Polo Grounds Music. She appeared on the remix version of "My Chick Bad," a Ludacris single, in 2010, alongside Trina and Eve. Gucci Mane appeared on her debut single "Lotta Money" in the summer of 2010. In 2011, Diamond premiered "Hit That Hoe," a video starring Waka Flocka. Diamond's 106 & Park single "Buy It All" on BET's 106 & Park in November 2011. At the BET Awards of 2011, Diamond was nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist. In 2012, Diamond's "Loose Screws" was released. At the BET Awards 2012, she was nominated for the second time as Best Female Hip-Hop Artist.
Diamond launched her album "The Young Life" on August 28, 2012, with Verse Simmonds on the singles and "Love Like Mine" starring Nikkiya. Diamond is expected to appear as a cast member of Hip Hop's Oxygen docu-series Sisterhood. "I now have an all-girl group called Girl Code," she says. "It's a blend of rock and rap." As I have aged, my musical taste has widened; but I can never leave my followers behind and forget my musical roots.
