Ace Hood, an American rapper, is Antoine McColister, better known by his stage name Ace Hood.

He was born in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and raised in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

He was signed to DJ Khaled's band We the Best Music Group and Epic Records.

In the basketball simulation game, NBA 2K10, his song "Top of the World" from his debut studio album Gutta was included.

He has released four studio albums with the most notable being his last two albums, Blood, Sweat & Tears (2011) and Trials & Tribulations (2013).

He is best known for his hit singles "Hustle Hard" and "Bugatti."

McColister left We the Best Music in 2016 after he announced it.

Early life

Ace Hood was born in Port St. Lucie, Florida, and was raised by his mother, who is of Haitian descent, and his younger cousin Ty Barton Jr. in Deerfield Beach, a part of Broward County. He graduated from Deerfield Beach High School. Following a football injury in the tenth grade and learning he would not be able to go pro, the Broward County native started seriously considering rapping as a career. Hood collaborated with Dollaz & Dealz, a local charity, to produce "M.O.E." In 2006, the first of many things in life were unveiled. He also began promoting himself by attending open mic and talent shows around town.

Personal life

Ace Hood is a Christian and says he "strongly believes" in God.

Lyric and Sailor Blu McColister were born on May 25, 2011 and Hood and his former girlfriend, Shanice Tyria Sarratt. Lyric died shortly after birth due to health issues. He also has a son. In April 2019, he proposed to longtime girlfriend Shelah Marie; the couple married on February 7, 2020.

DJ Khaled was interviewed outside the WEDR 99 Jamz radio station's office in 2007. Khaled ordered Hood to do a freestyle over the instrumental of his song "I'm So Hood" from his second album "We the Best" and later signed Hood to his We the Best Music Group label. Hood was selected by XXL magazine, alongside several others, on the Freshman of '09's list.

Gutta, his first album, was released in 2008. "Cash Flow" starring T-Pain and Rick Ross, and "Ride" featuring Trey Songz appeared on T-Pain and Rick Ross. Ace Won't Fold and All Bets On Ace were among Hood's mixtapes. On DJ Khaled's album "Out Here Grindin'," which also stars Akon, Rick Ross, Plies, Lil Boosie, and Trick Daddy, which peaked at number 38 on the Billboard Hot 100, he appeared as a guest among several rappers. It's from Khaled's third studio album We Global, which has since been named gold by the Royal Institute of British Architects. On September 7, 2008, Ace Hood and DJ Khaled appeared on Wildstyle Radio in Greensboro, North Carolina, to promote his album Gutta. The album debuted at number 36 on the Billboard 200, with 25,000 copies in its first week.

Hood unveiled his second album, Ruthless, on Def Jam on June 30, 2009, seven months later. The album's first single, "Overtime," was produced by The Runners and featured Akon and T-Pain. "Loco Wit The Cake," the album's second single, was released by Schife of Palm Beach County, Mafia. Rick Ross, Ludacris, Jazmine Sullivan, The-Dream, Birdman, and Lloyd are among the guest list on the album. The album debuted at number 23 on the Billboard 200, with 20,000 copies in its first week.

Hood has revealed that Blood, Sweat, and Tears would be his third album. It was published on August 9, 2011. The first official single, "Hustle Hard," became Ace's highest charting solo single, peaking at number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Go 'N' Get It," the second official single. Lex Luger produced both tracks. Chris Brown appears on "Body 2 Body" in its third single, and J.U.T.I.C.E. produced the song. League. On the Hot 100, it reached its high point of being ranked at number 65. Artists such as T-Pain, Yo Gotti, Kevin Cossom, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne appear on the album. The album debuted at number eight on the Billboard 200, selling 26,000 copies, making it the rapper's most popular song to date. With his first concert tour, the Hustle Hard Tour, he promoted the album. On three tracks from DJ Khaled's fifth studio album, "I'm Thuggin"," "Future," and the "Welcome to My Hood (Remix)" he appeared.

Hood began in 2012 by collaborating with Cash Money Records musician Bow Wow on a song called "We're Going Hard." He will be appearing on Maybach Music's Self Made Vol. 2 albums on sale. In Cash Money Records, Birdman and DJ Khaled signed Hood and We The Best Music Group. Hood's fourth studio album will be released by We The Greatest and Cash Money Records. He has appeared on tracks by other recording artists such as Talib Kweli, Jadakiss, Brisco, and "The Drill" by The Game, which also stars Meek Mill and appears on his California Republic.

He reunited with Trey Songz after 4 years to produce "I Need Your Love," the early-2000s-styled love song on the We The Best & Cash Money label. On January 10, 2013, Hood announced his mixtape Starvation 2. Meek Mill, French Montana, and Plies appear on the mixtape. Hood unveiled his fourth studio album, Trials & Tribulations, on January 16, 2013, and the album's first single, "Bugatti," stars Future and Rick Ross. Mike WiLL Made It. Future and Rick Ross appeared on "Bugatti" on February 6, 2013. The album debuted at number 42 on the Hot R&B/Hip Songs chart, where it debuted at number 42. Since being a lead singer and the first top 40 hit since "Out Here Grindin," "Bugatti" has risen to the top of the Hot 100, becoming Hood's most popular single to date as a lead artist and his first top-ten hit since "Out Here Grindin'." Trials & Tribulations would be published on July 16, 2013. It was announced on February 19, 2013.

Hood talks about his family and choosing a different route with this record, including Anthony Hamilton and John Legend, and plans for Lil Wayne and Kendrick Lamar to appear on the album as well. On May 6, 2013, Hood unveiled the remix to "Bugatti" with guests DJ Khaled, Future, Meek Mill, T.I., Wiz Khalifa, Birdman, and 2 Chainz. Hood's second single, "We Outchea," features his Cash Money label-mate Lil Wayne on June 5, 2013. The final track listing was announced on June 26, 2013 with appearances by Meek Mill, Anthony Hamilton, Chris Brown, and Betty Wright.

On January 17, 2014, Hood unveiled his Starvation 3 mixtape. The freebie featured content from We The Best label-mates Vado and Mavado, as well as Betty Wright and Kevin Cossom. Cool & Dre, The Renegades, StreetRunner, and The Beat Bully were among others' mixestapes. On August 29, Body Bag 3 was released. Hood will team up with Rich Homie Quan for a return single titled "We Don't."

He joined Love & Hip Hop: Miami in 2021.
