Danny Rose Life

Daniel Lee Rose (born 2 July 1990) is an English professional footballer who plays as a left back for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and the England national team. Rose started his professional career at Leeds United in 2006, having progressed through the club's youth ranks, but left for current club Tottenham Hotspur in July 2007, having never played for Leeds.

Having failed to break into the first team, he joined Watford on loan in March 2009, making seven appearances, and then joined Peterborough United on loan in September 2009.

Having made six appearances for Peterborough, he returned to Tottenham, and made his debut for the latter club.

Having still been unable to establish himself as a regular player, he joined Bristol City on loan in September 2010, and made 17 appearances.

Although Rose became more involved in the Tottenham team during the 2011–12 season, making 20 appearances in all competitions, he spent the following season on loan to Sunderland, where he made 29 appearances. Rose played for England at the under-17 and under-19 levels before making his under-21 debut in 2009.

Since then, he established himself in the team, making 29 appearances.

He earned his first senior cap in a 3–2 victory against Germany in 2016.

Early and personal life

Rose was born in Doncaster, South Yorkshire. His younger brother Mitch Rose plays for South Shields F.C. He also is the cousin of footballer Michael Rankine, whose uncle Mark Rankine also played professional football.

In June 2018, Rose stated that he had been diagnosed with depression.

On 23 December 2020, Rose was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after his car reportedly collided with the central reservation on the A45 in Northampton.

Danny Rose Career

Club career

Rose is a product of the Leeds United youth academy. In the League Cup, Rose was named on the bench for Leeds's first team's match against Barnet on September 20. Kevin Blackwell, Rose on the bench's manager, was dismissed right away after the match. Rose was not included in a squad for Leeds this season. Leeds was promoted from The Championship to League One, and Rose was sold to raise some much needed funds for the club as a result of the club's administration.

Tottenham Hotspur Hotspur received a transfer fee from Rose on July 25, 2007. Rose, a regular for both the Academy and Reserves, was named as an unuseful replacement for the league match against Sunderland in January 2008. However, his recovery was slowed slightly as a result of a serious knee injury in September of the same year. In a 2–2 FA Cup draw against his former club Leeds United, Rose made his first appearance for Spurs against his former club Leeds United in January 2010.

On April 14, 2010, Rose made his league debut against Arsenal, scoring the first goal of the match after ten minutes as Tottenham defeated 2–1 in the Premier League. In The Times, the aim was later described as "a volley so screamy that you could hear the whack off his boot above the diner of the raucous crowd." Rose received the Goal of the Season award, with Sky Sports and Tottenham Hotspur polling. Rose started against Blackpool on May 7th to fill in for regular left-back Benoît Assou-Ekotto, despite being on the wrong side of the game, boss Harry Redknapp praised him specifically for his role in the 1-1 draw. Redknapp explained later that he convinced Rose at the time to switch from a left winger to a left-back by arguing that it would be Rose's only way to play for England's national team. Rose will continue to play left-back in the remaining three games of the season, putting in good results in a narrow loss to Manchester City and victories over Birmingham and Birmingham City.

Rose went on loan to Watford for the remainder of the 2008–09 season in March 2009. Brendan Rodgers, the Watford manager, characterized Rose as a "highly skilled, dedicated player" with "serious energy and real intelligence with the ball." In Watford's 2–1 away victory over Doncaster Rovers on April 4, 2009. He made his debut in the team's 2–1 victory on 4 April 2009.

Rose signed Peterborough United on loan until January 2010. He then transferred to Plymouth Argyle's squad, where they defeated 2–1 at home. Following the departure of Peterborough boss Darren Ferguson, Rose returned to Tottenham on November 11, 2009.

Rose joined Bristol City on a season-long loan contract, subject to a recall clause that comes into play after 28 days at the club. Rose appeared on as a second-half replacement against Leeds United on September 13 and was booed by the home supporters. After leaving Elland Road, he was the first time he had played at the club. In February 2011, Rose returned to Tottenham Hotspur after a string of minor injuries limited his reach and appearances at Bristol City.

Rose joined Sunderland in Premier League on a season-long loan from Spurs on August 31, 2012. Rose made his Manchester debut against Liverpool on September 15, 2012. In an away match against Aston Villa on 29 April 2013, Rose scored his first goal for Sunderland. After being named the club's young player of the season, Rose returned to Tottenham after suffering a wrist injury in May 2013.

Tottenham lost in the play-off first leg, which resulted in a 5–0 victory on August 22, 2013 at the start of the season. Tottenham trained for the Europa League's group stage, but their first home match against Troms was postponed due to a injury. Rose didn't return to training until mid-December.

Rose skipped the game against Liverpool, where Tottenham lost 5–0 home to Liverpool, prompting André Villas-Boas to be dismissed as manager. Rose returned to first-team football under Tim Sherwood, after Tottenham went away to Southampton and won 3–2.

Tottenham Hotspur has been knocked out of games by a loss of six away games without a win, and Rose won by a goal in the 33rd minute against Stoke City, earning the team three points. Rose signed a five-year deal with Tottenham on July 31, 2014. Tottenham has signed Ben Davies in the summer transfer window, allowing them to compete on the left-back role as well as providing cover if Rose is injured.

In Tottenham's 5–3 Premier League victory over Chelsea at White Hart Lane on January 1, 2015, Rose scored his first goal of the season. Rose scored for Tottenham in the FA Cup third round replay against Burnley at home, netting the final goal in a 4–2 win. He added to his Premier League tally against West Ham United on February 22nd, scoring Spurs' first in a 2–2 draw. Spur lost 2–0 to Chelsea in the 2015 League Cup Final at Wembley Stadium on March 1. In a 2–0 home win over Hull City on May 16th, Rose scored his last goal of the season, effectively ending the Tigers' stay at home against Manchester United because they were unable to do so.

In a 2015-16 FA Cup match against Leicester City, Rose was named captain by boss Mauricio Pochettino for the first time in his career.

As Tottenham closed the gap on league leaders Leicester City, Rose scored the winning goal in a 2–1 home victory over Swansea City on February 28. This was also his first goal of the season.

Rose renewed her Tottenham Hotspur contract until 2021 on September 22, 2016. In a 1-1 draw against Liverpool, he scored his first goal of the season on August 27th, earning Tottenham a point. He continued to play well for Spurs, putting in many key results in the first half of the season, including a one-two against Burnley on December 18th. Spurs travelled to Sunderland in the Premier League on January 31, 2017 despite Rose's knee ligament damage during the match. Rose was forecast to return in the beginning of April in March, according to the Evening Standard. Rose was named as left-back in the PFA Team of the Year on April 20th, 2017, despite being injured. Rose "has undergone exploratory surgery on his left knee" and will not return until next season, according to Tottenham's May 2017 report.

Rose returned to first team training in October 2017 after being out of action for more than nine months. In a UEFA Champions League away game against Real Madrid that ended in a 1–1 draw, he made his first appearance of the 2017-18 season as a substitute. In a 1–0 home victory over Crystal Palace in early November, he got off to a good start to the season.

He said in April 2019 that he was looking forward to retiring from football due to bigotry in 5 to 6 years. He said earlier this month that he wished that the governing bodies would take further steps to eliminate racism in football. He got off to a Champions League Final against Liverpool in June, which Tottenham lost.

Rose was not selected in the Tottenham team for the 2019 International Champions Cup. "Danny Rose has been given additional time off in order to investigate future moves with other clubs," the club reported. However, no move was made for Rose, and the Tottenham Hotspur manager started his season on Saturday, defeating Aston Villa 3-1.

Rose played for the first time in seven years when he joined Newcastle United on loan for the remainder of the season. Following his transfer, Rose chastised Tottenham boss José Mourinho, saying he wasn't "given as much of a chance as everyone else in the backline" in the Tottenham team. Following football's suspension due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the loan was later extended to cover the remainder of the season.

Rose was not given a squad number for the season and was dropped from Tottenham's Premier League and Europa League squads, effectively ending his eligibility for selection by the club until at least January 2021. Following the termination of their employment, Tottenham Hotspur revealed the departures of Rose and Paulo Gazzaniga on May 27th.

Watford announced the free transfer of Rose, who had signed a two-year deal on June 16th.

Rose was in the starting lineup for Tottenham Hotspur U21's friendly match against Enfield Town on July 12, 2022. Despite being under contract with Watford for another year, he had pleaded for Tottenham "one last time" and was granted his wish. He wore his well-known number three shirt. Enfield lost by 3–2 on the match.

Following Watford's demotion to the EFL Championship, it was also revealed that he was desperate to leave Vicarage Road. Watford and Rose decided on a mutual termination of his employment on September 1, 2022.

International career

On June 1, 2009, Rose was invited to the England under-21 team for the European Championships, when striker Danny Welbeck was forced to miss out due to injury. In a 7–0 friendly win over Azerbaijan on June 8, he made his debut with a replacement role.

In a 2011 European Championship qualifier victory over Portugal, Rose scored his first goal for England U-21s. In a 2–0 victory over Uzbekistan on August 10, 2010, his second goal was scored. In a 2–0 victory over Norway on June 5, the team's final warm-up match before the 2011 European Under-21 Championships, he scored his third goal.

Rose was shown a red card during a 2013 UEFA Under-21 Championship qualifying match against Serbia after kicking a football into the audience after the match concluded on October 16th. Members of the crowd had racially attacked Rose during the match and afterwards, when joking about the victory with his England teammates, which culminated in a mass brawl between players and teaching staff of both teams.

Rose was selected in Stuart Pearce's final 18-man Great Britain Olympic football squad for the 2012 Summer Olympics on July 2nd, 2012.

Rose was named in the senior England squad for the first time on August 28th, 2014, ahead of a friendly against Norway and a Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland, but did not participate. In a 3–2 away victory over Germany in a friendly on March 26, 2016, Rose made his debut as a starter on a 3–2 victory over him as a starter.

Rose was formerly eligible to play for Jamaica through his Jamaican grandfather, and the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) contacted him in early 2015 about the prospect of representing Jamaica at international level.

For the 2018 FIFA World Cup, he was selected in the 23-man England national team squad.

Danny Rose admits he'never, EVER' expected Mauricio Pochettino to join Chelsea... because he expected the Argentine to return to Spurs

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 1, 2023
Danny Rose has expressed surprise at the prospect that Maurico Pochettino would be Chelsea manager due to his association with Tottenham. Rose, who played under Pochettino for more than five seasons with Spurs, felt a return to north London was more appropriate when both managerial roles became open in the summer. However, the Argentine decided to sign a two-year contract with Chelsea, and Spurs ended up naming Ange Postecoglou instead. "Never would I have guessed that Mauricio would be Chelsea's manager," Rose said in a interview with Talksport.'
