Dani Aquino Career

Club career

Aquino, a native of Murcia, made his professional debut against CD Tenerife on 2006–07, losing in a 1–4 home loss for his first appearance of the season, which ended in promotion. Chelsea and Liverpool, among other things, had rumors about the youngster in early 2007. No contracts were reached in the end as the player decided to live in the country to continue his growth.

In a 3–1 away loss to Real Zaragoza on January 20, Aquino first appeared in La Liga on January 20, 2008. Coach Lucas Alcaraz's firing and the arrival of Javier Clemente ended the campaign in the beginning of the season, revealing glimpses of an emerging talent. On March 30, he delivered a cross for Quique de Lucas' opener at Deportivo de La Corua (another 3–1 loss) and scored his first-top flight goal two months later against Racing de Santander – Murcia led by 2–0, lost 3–2, and relegated to relegation.

Aquino was given a big role in the main squad in 2008-09, but Murcia fell short of relegation in the majority of the competition and ended up ranked 14th. The club finally dropped down a level in the following season, with the player leaving in June 2011 after playing sparingly in the process.

Aquino left Real Valladolid and Real Oviedo in mid-January 2013 and scored many goals for his C team in the Tercera División, despite further disappointing spells with Real Valladolid and Real Oviedo. He also caught the eye of main squad boss Diego Simeone, who gave him his first top-tier appearance in more than five years on June 1: After just a minute on the field, he assisted Diego Costa for the second goal in Zaragoza's eventual 3-1 victory.

After scoring 17 times for Atlético's reserves in the Segunda División B, Aquino migrated to CD Numancia on June 10, 2015. He was released and signed for Racing de Santander just hours later on July 13th of the following year, having netted only once during the entire season. In his first season in Cantabria, he scored 27 times, including all the objectives of a 4–0 home victory over UD Mutilvera on May 7, 2017.

Aquino had brief stints with AEK Larnaca FC (Cypriot First Division) and Piast Gliwice (Polish Ekstraklasa), as well as a second one in Murcia. He returned to Spain on January 20, 2020, signing with third-division club CD Badajoz with a "prohibitive buyout waiver."

International career

At both under-17 and under 19, Aquino represented Spain at both under-17 and under 19 years. He scored three goals and was the country's second-best scorer during the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup, only second behind Bojan Krki's five goals.

Aquino qualified in the Czech Republic for the 2008 European Under-19 Championship.
