Early life
Poitier was born in Philadelphia and moved to Massachusetts in his early childhood. Since seeing a man who looked "just like [his] grandfather" on television talk about acting, he became interested in acting. He started out in school but took his first "professional" job at Spooky World as a scare actor. Poitier's first real acting gig was as a stunt performer on Sheena.
