Early life
Dae Dae grew up in Atlanta's Boulevard Fourth Ward. When his estranged father, John Burton, bought Bow Wow and Lil Romeo CDs, he took an early interest in music at 8 years old. Dae Dae dropped out of school and became a father for the first time at the age of 14. Dae Dae's father, who is still interested in music and rapping, converted a room in their house into a recording studio for him. When his father was unable to provide receipts for his purchase, police arrested his father for having drugs in the house and confiscated the studio equipment shortly after. Dae Dae quickly jumped into concrete and flooring, saving all of his earned money to record at a local studio and attending weekly open mic nights. Anthem, who knew Atlanta-based producer Nitti, was eventually hired by Nitti Beatz Recordings, and he was eventually granted a contract.
Career
In 2015, Dae Dae released his first single, "Wat U Mean (Aye, Aye)" (Aye, Aye). He wrote the song at work, freestyling lines in his head, and writing them on his iPhone before calling his engineer and recording it later that day. Dae Dae, a comedian who starred Rich Homie Quan in 2016, has released a mixtape named 4 Reasons, which features cameos from artists such as Rich Homie Quan. Dae Dae released the single "Spend It" in February 2016, which was later remixed by Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz. Young Trill Beatz produced the song. In November 2016, the first music video for "Spend It" was released. Dae Dae, as well as TM88 and Rich The Kid, joined Young Thug's May 2016 Hi-Tunes tour around the country. In July 2016, Lil Yachty's official remix of "Wat U Mean" was released. "Dej Loaf," Dae Dae's third album, was announced in August 2016. He released the single "Dem Days" in January 2017 and was named one of FACT Magazine's Top Rappers to Watch in 2017.
Since its 2015 launch, Dae Dae's "Wat U Mean" had been on the rise, particularly after being remixed by Young Dro. In early 2016, Shazam in Atlanta discovered the song as the top song discovered via Shazam in Atlanta. A video of a dancer named Matthew King performing to the song went viral on Twitter in May 2016, raising the song's exposure and fame.
