Personal life
After being noticed by a professional scout in Clinton, Mississippi, Renn began her modeling career at the age of 14. Renn was told she would need to shed almost a quarter of her total body weight if she wanted to become a model. Renn reassessed her diet and exercise regiments later in life after years of anorexia nervosa. She was re-marketed by her agents as a plus-size model after gaining 70 pounds (32 kg) and re-emerging as a U.S. size 12. Renn has written a book called Hungry: A Young Model's Account of Aptitude, Aspiration, and Curves' Ultimate Embrace of Curves about her fashion work in connection with her numerous body type changes.
Renn married Gregory Vrecenak at the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola in Manhattan, New York, on June 30, 2007. Brian Boulos, a photographer, captured her wedding portraits. The couple wed in mid-2009 broke up after their marriage. Renn now resides in Brooklyn, New York.
