Christian Brando Life

Christian Devi Brando (May 11, 1958-January 26, 2008) was one of Marlon Brando's eleven children and the only one Brando had with actress Anna Kashfi. Christian Brando fatally shot Dag Drollet, the boyfriend of his half-sister Cheyenne, at his father's house on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills on May 16, 1990.

That year, the family feud and trial were highly publicized.

In 1991, he pleaded guilty to murder and was sentenced to prison.

He was born in 1996 and was released in 1996.

Brando's relationship with Bakley and his potential complicity in her murder were exposed in 2004 when reports were released at the trial of Robert Blake for the 2001 murder of his wife Bonnie Lee Bakley.

Brando pleaded no contest to the spousal assault of his then-wife Deborah, who was given probation in 2005.

On January 26, 2008, at the age of 49, he died of pneumonia.

Early life

Christian Brando was named after his father's longtime friend, French film director Christian Marquand, who later directed Marlon in the film Candy (1968). Christian was born in Los Angeles on May 11, 1958, the product of an affair involving Marlon Brando and Anna Kashfi, an actor born in colonial India, to a British family. Marlon and Kashfi met in 1955, and Kashfi became pregnant in 1957. They married in 1958 and divorced a year later.

Christian was ferried between his mother and father. His parents became more violent and threatening toward one another as a result of a protracted custody conflict. The 12-year custody war and his mother's uncontrollable temper as a result of her heroin use and alcohol use had a major effect on young Christians. Christian was eventually adopted by Marlon, who was then 13 years old. Marlon had referred to his son as a "basket case of emotional disorder" at the time.

Marlon was a distant father and spent little time with a young Christian who was raised by nannies and servants. Christian moved between Hollywood and Tetiaroa, his father's private island off the coast of Tahiti. Marlon continued to have friendships with several women with whom he fathered many children. Christian said, "The family kept changing form, so I'd sit down at the breakfast table and ask, "Who are you?" years later, when reflecting on his childhood.

Christian was kidnapped by his mother, who took him from school, and took him to a group of hippie friends in Baja California, Mexico, in 1972, when his father was filming Last Tango in France. According to reports, she had promised them $10,000 if they didn't tell Christian away. When she refused to pay, they kidnaped the child; a posse of private detectives employed by Marlon led by private investigator Jay J. Armes, rescued him late one night. He was discovered dead in a tent and fevered with bronchial pneumonia. After being arrested after being pulled over for inebriated driving and disorderly conduct, his mother was arrested near the Mexican border. His father was awarded sole custody of his child back in court.

During his teenage years, he dropped out of high school and started drinking and using LSD. He was an occasional actor, but he was not keen on being in the spotlight. He moved from home to Washington state to spend with his family friends, something that his father later approved and encouraged him in. His dad would visit him there and later bought a remote cabin for him where he pursued artistic welding at the age of 22. He'll divide his time between his visit to his father's Hollywood Hills home and his father's in Hollywood Hills.

Christian appeared in two small films as an adult: In The Secret Life of an American Wife and I Love You, Alice B. Both Toklas! were released in 1968. He appeared in four other films and four made-for-TV films, many times using the name "Gary Brown" in 1980 to 1990. In the film La Posta in gioco ("The Prize at Stake"), filmed in Southern Italy in 1987, he was a killer in the Sacra Corona Unita (the Quarter Italian Mafia).

Personal life

Christian Brando was involved in the abduction of Blake's 44-year-old wife Bonny Lee Bakley, according to Robert Blake and his defense lawyers. Robert Blake was eventually charged with his wife's murder, and although he was cleared of the criminal charge, he was found guilty of her daughter's death in the civil case.

At the criminal pre-trial trial and the subsequent civil trial, testimony was offered to implicate Christian in the murder, alleging that he had the same intention as Blake to have Bonny Lee Bakley murdered. Bakley had become pregnant and told Brando and Blake that they were the father. Robert Blake, not Christian Brando, was the biological father, according to a DNA test.

Brando was the father of her child, according to a trial testimony, just days before her death. Brando became outraged, according to Dianne Mattson, who said "somebody should shoot a bullet in the bitch's head." "You're lucky," Brando said in a tape-recorded chat with Bakley. I mean, not on my behalf, but you're lucky that no one is out there to shoot a bullet in your head."

Christian Brando was in Washington state on the night of Bakley's death, according to pre-trial testimony and corroboration. According to another pre-trial deposition lawsuit, Brando associates were implicated in the assassination. Duffy Hambleton, a stunt man, was one of those suspected of being complicit: Duffy Hambleton, a prosecution star. Blake allegedly tried to recruit Hambleton to murder Bakley, according to Hambleton. Hambleton denied the bid. Blake, on the other hand, testified that he used Hambleton for personal protection to shield himself and Bakley from a stalker. Hambleton was an affiliate of Christian Brando and that he orchestrated the assassination of Bakley in order to reclaim Brando's respect. The judge in the criminal case barred the defense from attending the trial.

Brando was named as a witness in Blake's civil trial but he refused to testify, invoking his Fifth Amendment constitutional rights. Brando's behavior in court earned him a contempt of court charge and conviction.

Brando's first marriage to make-up artist Mary McKenna ended without a single sanction in 1987 after six years; the two artists first met when they were ten years old. Brando wed Deborah Presley, an actress who had proclaimed to be Elvis Presley's illegitimate daughter, was born in Las Vegas on October 16, 2004. The marriage lasted a short time and was annulled in June 2005 when both were California residents. In January 2005, Brando denied allegations of spousal assault against Deborah. He was put on probation and was ordered to drug and alcohol therapy.

Deborah filed a complaint against Brando in Los Angeles County Superior Court in December 2005, alleging spousal assault related to an incident in Brando's home. Brando denied receiving "a brutal beating" during the same incident in which she broke into his home and beat him because he wanted to cancel their marriage only 10 weeks after exchanging vows. They stayed in touch throughout Christian's stay in jail for their heroin use/use. The lawsuit was not settled because Christian Brando died and his estate never settled with Deborah.
