Cho Yong-pil Life

Cho Yong-pil (born March 21, 1950) is a South Korean pop musician who is widely known in Korean popular music.

In 1968, he debuted as a member of Atkins and made his solo debut with the hit single "Come Back to Busan Port" in 1976.

Cho has released 19 solo albums and has remained extremely popular throughout his 50-year career.

Early years: 1950–1968

Cho Yong-pil was born in Hwaseong, South Korea, and spent part of his childhood in Seoul. He and actor Ahn Sung-ki were classmates at the now defunct Kyungdong Middle School in Seoul and remained friends even though they attended different high schools. Cho was seven years old when he heard Ray Charles playing the harmonica, and this inspired the young Cho to become a performer. He began as a guitarist in various bands but then went solo.

Cho formed Atkins, a country and western group, and played for the United States Army. Five Fingers, which performed black artists' music, were established later.

Cho joined Kim Trio, a 1970s band that inspired him to play rock music. Pa Kim (guitar), Dan Kim (drum), and Sun Kim (keyboard).

When it was first released in 1975, his first single, "Come Back to Busan Port," attracted national attention, later becoming a hit in Japan. Cho later produced a Japanese-language version of the song and performed live in Japan. Chang bakkui yeoja (The Woman Outside the Window), his first album, was released in 1980 and has been followed by several others. In 1980, he appeared at Carnegie Hall in New York City, becoming the first Korean artist to perform at Carnegie Hall. He has received numerous accolades, including the KBS and MBC Best Artist Award (1980–1986), Ampex Golden Reel Award (1982), and the CBS-Sony Golden Disc Award (1984).

After the appearance of the well-known band, Seo Taiji and Boys, and several other young musicians, his commercial success has diminished. His studio albums, which came out in 1992, were not as well-received. He revealed that he would no longer be seen on television, hinting that he would hardly get any hits. He shifted his attention away from concerts to music performance. His Busan concert in 1993 attracted a record audience in South Korea. Cho performed a concert in Pyongyang, North Korea, in 2005, an extremely rare occurrence for a South Korean singer. He appears on more than thirty concerts a year. Nonetheless, he attempted to create various forms of pop music, including rock music. He produced a great hybrid album based on pop and classical music, which displayed his inherent musical sensibility, similar to that of well-known western musicians. And at the age of over 60, such gifted musical talent is a driving force in keeping great live tours at the World Cup Soccer Stadium in South Korea.

Cho released his 19th album "Hello" in April 2013, which debuted at No. 1 in April 2013. "Gentleman" eclipsing Psy's "Gentleman" on the Korean pop charts on April 25, 2013. This program was also broadcast live on YouTube.

For the week of April 21-27, 2013, the album debuted at number one on the GAON Album Chart for the week. Two songs from the album's collection have also earned top positions in Korean Music Shows. On May 1, Hello was on top of the MBC Music Show Champion standings. On the other hand, "Bounce" soared to the top spot over Roy Kim's "Spring Spring Spring" and Psy's "Gentleman" in KBS Music Bank, as well as another one over SHINee's "Why So Serious?" On May 10, the 10th anniversary of the Chicago Public Schools was announced.

On May 4, Music Core received the top award for the same song.
