Cheryl Campbell (born 22 May 1949) is an English actor who appeared on stage, film, and television.

She appeared alongside Bob Hoskins in the 1978 BBC drama Pennies From Heaven before going on to win the 1980 BAFTA Television Award for Best Actress and Malice Aforethought, as well as the 1982 Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Revival for A Doll's House.

Chariots of Fire (1981), Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan (1984), and The Shooting Party (1985).

Early life

Campbell, a born in St Albans, Hertfordshire, is the granddaughter of an airline pilot. She attended Francis Bacon Grammar School, St Albans, and the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA). The Palace Theatre, Watford, Birmingham Rep., and Glasgow's Citizens' Theatre are among her repertory theatre experiences.

Campbell is best known for her role in the BBC's television dramatization of Testament of Youth (1979), for which she received Best Actress awards from the British Academy Television Award (BAFTA) and the Broadcasting Press Guild Award.

Campbell had been nominated for her role in Dennis Potter's television series Pennies from Heaven (1978). Campbell was also cast in Rain on the Roof (1980), but not in another role.
