Bryan Gil Career

Club career

Born in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain, Gil and his family emigrated to Barbate, Andalusia, where he was mainly raised there. In 2012, he joined Sevilla FC's youth team, transferring there from Barbate CF's hometown team. He made his senior debut on August 26, 2018 against UD Ibiza, and was promoted to the reserves ahead of the 2018-19 season.

Gil scored his first senior goal on September 8, 2018, netting the equalizer in a 2–1 home win over San Fernando CD. He renewed his contract until 2022 on December 12th, making him a regular starter on the B-side. In a 2–1 victory at Granada CF B on February 23, 2019, he was given a straight red card, but two teammates were suspended for protesting his dismissal.

Gil made his first team, La Liga, debut on January 6, 2019, ending as a late replacement for goalscorer Wissam Ben Yedder in a 1-1 draw against Atlético Madrid. In his first season with the team, he made ten more appearances, all off the bench, and scored on April 25 to bring a 5–0 victory over Rayo Vallecano; the strike made him the first child of the 21st century to net in Spain's top flight.

Gil scored in a UEFA Europa League match against Qaraba FK, resulting in a 2–0 loss to Sevilla on November 29, 2019. He was his first goal in European competition. Following his release on January 31st, he joined fellow top-tier side CD Leganés on loan for the remainder of the season. Gil scored in a 2–2 home draw against Real Madrid on the last day of the season on July 19th.

Gil was loaned to fellow top-tier side SD Eibar for the 2020–21 campaign, as well as teammate Alejandro Pozo. As the team ended the season, he scored four goals and helped with many others.

With Argentine Erik Lamela, who went to Sevilla, Gil signed for Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the 2021-22 season in a fee-exchange contract. Sky Sports reported that the initial payment was £21.6 million, and that the deal was for five years.

Gil made his debut for the club on August 1921 by beginning in the UEFA Europa Conference League first leg tie against Paços de Ferreira, which ended in a 1–0 loss. In a 1–0 home victory over Watford as an 88th-minute replacement for goalscorer Son Heung-min. In October, a thigh injury against Burnley in October was the first to his recovery, followed by a COVID-19 diagnosis in December.

Gil had only been involved in nine league games for the past nine years, to Real Sociedad or Valencia in January 2022. He was loaned to the latter for the remainder of the season on the last day of the month. He made 17 total appearances for the club, including their penalty shootout loss to Real Betis in the 2022 Copa del Rey Final on April 23rd, in which Hugo Duro led goalscorer Hugo Duro to five minutes of regulation time remaining.

Gil came off the bench and won his Spurs a point against Eintracht Frankfurt on October 12th.

International career

Gil was a member of the Spain under-19 team that lifted the 2019 UEFA European Championship in Armenia, beginning in the 2–0 victory over Portugal.

Gil received his first call-up to the Spain national team for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying group stage. He made his debut against Greece in a 1–1 draw in Granada on March 25, 2021, as a 65th-minute substitute for Sergio Canales.

Gil won a silver medal at the 2020 Olympic Games in Japan, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed it until the following year.

Brighton revived their attempts to sign Tottenham's Bryan Gil on loan, but there will be no way to buy in a future contract, with several other clubs keen on the Spaniard

MATT BARLOW: Brighton's loan move for out of favour Tottenham defender Bryan Gil has been revived. However, there will be no option or commitment to buy the Spaniard included in any potential contract. The Seagulls will face competition in their attempts to reach an agreement before the deadline, with several other groups also interested in the 22-year-old's, including Dutch giants Feyenoord.

The Man City proponent, who saw Arsenal win his Emirates return, and Burnley, 19-year-old thrilling Burnley and Nottingham Forest all looking for a match on Transfer Deadline Day, are among the ten projects that could happen on Transfer Deadline Day

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 31, 2024
Clubs have their last chance to improve ahead of the rest of the season as we enter the final hours of the January transfer window. Teams at the top of the pack will be looking for titles and European qualification, while those at the bottom will be hoping that a new addition would keep them away from relegation problems. In the midst of several FFP probes, Everton and Nottingham Forest have been charged with breaching the top flight's financial laws this month, and it underscores the balancing act clubs must play to ensure immediate success with financial stability. However, there are still many deals in the offing that will run right up to the 11 p.m. deadline on Thursday, with some players facing uncertain futures.
