Life and career
Carlile was born in Ravensdale, Washington, a small town 30 miles away from Seattle, on June 1, 1981. Carlile grew up in a mile-less house, built forts, and performed with her brother, Jay, and sister, Tiffany. Carlile was four years old when she first developed bacterial meningitis, which nearly took her life. Several times she felt faint, and she was in a coma. Carlile spent her early life in Sumner, Black Diamond, Maple Valley, Auburn, Auburn, and briefly lived in West Seattle.
Carlile began singing as a child, and she began performing country songs on stage when she was eight years old. Carlile performed Johnny Cash's "Tennesse Flat Top Box" with her mother Teresa Carlile at age eight and began playing the guitar and writing songs at age 15. Carlile, a 16-year-old boy, became a backup singer for an Elvis impersonator. She was diagnosed with attention-deficit disorder as a youth, according to Carlile. She attended Tahoma High School but later dropped out to pursue her musical aspirations. Carlile learned to play piano and by 17 years old, she learned to play the guitar.
Carlile began her career in Seattle music clubs with twin brothers Tim and Phil Hanseroth. Columbia Records signed Carlile in 2004 on the strength of songs she had been recording regularly at home. Carlile's debut in 2005 showcased those early recordings as well as newly released tracks in the self-titled album Brandi Carlile. Columbia Records' re-release of "Throw It Away" and "What Can I Say" included re-recordings.
The album received raves; she appeared on Rolling Stone's "Top Artists to Watch in 2005" list, as well as other "artist to watch" lists by Interview and Paste. "The accolades, along with cover art depicting her at her cutest," Stephen Thomas Erlewine said of Carlile, "may make some listeners suspicious of her work." "Her music is... rich, warm, and seductive, familiar in its form and sound, but it is also unique in how her folky singer/songwriter foundation blends with her art-pop roots," he said. The album reached No. 11 on the charts. On the Billboard 200, 80 is the highest placed on the Billboard 200, and it has landed at No. 80. On the US Folk Albums chart, number 1 appears.
She left Seattle and set out with the Hanseroth brothers shortly after they were released on her first recordings and independent regional tours, shortly after they were released. The tight knit trio, which makes up her band today's front row, spent the better part of two years on the road honing the songs that would later become part of her album The Story.
Carlile had embarked on several headlining tours and supported a variety of artists, including Ray LaMontagne, the Fray, Chris Isaak, Tori Amos, and Shawn Colvin by the end of 2006.
T Bone Burnett's second album, The Story, was released. It includes a partnership with the Indigo Girls on "Cannonball." The album was recorded in an 11-day session with Carlile, the Hanseroths, and drummer Matt Chamberlain to capture Carlile's live performances' raw emotion. Carlile's vocal crack on "The Story" during the title track came out by accident and was a direct result of the album's recording process. During the 2008 Summer Olympics, "The Story" was a big part of GM's commercials, resulting in more exposure to her music. Album sales increased by 368 percent from 1,323 to 6,198 in reaction to the commercial. In downloads of 28,091 copies, the lead single, "The Story," has increased. At No. 1, "The Story" reached its high point. On the iTunes Music Store's most-purchased list, there are five stars. The song was also used in the 2008 Super Bock commercial and helped the song to debut at No. 1. The album and the single have reached No. 1 on the charts. The Portuguese charts rank 4 on the Portuguese charts. On the end credits of the romantic drama film The Lucky One's "The Story" was included. More than 257,776 copies have been sold in the United States and topped No. 257,776 on the charts, with the album's peak at No. 2. Billboard 200 and No. 41 are among the Billboard 200 and No. On the US Rock Albums chart, tenth on the top ten.
"The roiling collection lives up to its name," Carlile said in The Story, "offering a strong confirmation that Carlile is a singular talent."
"We didn't know even half of what we'd been dealt with until 2007's The Story, her T-Bone Burnett-produced sophomore collection, was released." Something about her changed from promise to absolute certainty as Carlile let loose a hurricane of lung power, according to Rachael Maddux of Paste magazine.

On the Billboard 200, there are 26 people on the Billboard 200.
"Writhing and flaming and staring at life straight down the barrel, Give Up the Ghost is exactly the album Carlile wanted to make at this moment," Rachael Maddux wrote in one of the album's critiques. The performance is heavy but refined, with full knowledge that the songs could exist in a sparse acoustic-strummed shamrocket daze, but that they deserve more than that." "The best part of Give Up the Ghost," she continued, "The best part of Give Up the Ghost?" She will almost certainly have a much better album one day," she says.
Carlile's album Live at Benaroya Hall with the Seattle Symphony debuted at number 14 on the Top Rock Albums chart in 2011. Carlile's live album features a mixture of original songs and cover songs. The album features Washington-native Carlile and her long-time band (including brothers Phil and Tim Hanseroth) performing alongside the Seattle Symphony in November 2010. AllMusic's Andrew Leahey wrote, "Live at Benaroya Hall" is more concerned with dressing up Carlile's music in chic, orchestral garbation, and the results are stunning, from the grandeur of 'The Story' to the inclusion of horns, woodwinds, and strings. This isn't Brandi Carlile's first concert album, but it is certainly the best."
The album debuted at number 63 on the Billboard 200, number 5 on the US Folk Albums chart, and number 14 on the US Rock Albums chart, with a peak position of number 63 on the Billboard 200, number five on the US Folk Albums chart, and number 14 on the US Rock Albums chart.
Bear Creek, Carlile's new album, was released on June 5, 2012 by Trina Shoemaker. The album is a result of her and the Hanseroth twins' collaboration. "We decided a decade ago to divide everything in our band equally among the three of us," she says in an interview with an American Songwriter. So no one has a vested interest in hearing someone else's song or their tale. However, no one has a keen interest in keeping someone out of the story from being published. It's always comes down to what's best for the song." Katie (played by Julianne Hough) and Alex (played by Josh Duhamel) heard "Heart's Content" from this album on radio in an empty diner and danced to it.
The album debuted on the Billboard 200, ranked 1 on the US Billboard Folk Albums and at number 3 on the US Billboard Rock Albums chart, and at number ten on the Billboard 200, the highest on the Billboard 200, and number 3 on the US Billboard Rock Albums chart.

On ATO Records, Carlile's fifth album The Firewatcher's Daughter was released on March 3, 2015. "Whether The Firewatcher's Daughter follows the country-folk romance of 2012's Bear Creek, returns to the warm adult songcraft of The Story and Give Up the Ghost, or explores some other avenue entirely, she's sure to provide emotional intelligence, thoughtful analysis, and, perhaps, the most arresting female voice in pop this side of Adele." I'm betting on her."
"We didn't make any demos." Rock and roll isn't really a style, but more of recklessness or a danger, according to Carlile. "The more something is worked out and certain of itself, the less it begins to rock." That's what I think rock and roll is like, and it's scary."
The Eye, the preview track for which a video was released prior to the album, is a front-porch acoustic. "The Eye" on the album's glorious storm, according to NPR Music's analysis, it is just what it sounds like: a deep breath in the midst of the album's glorious storm. The album, which is rooted in Carlile's obsession with both classic country and California pop, is the kind of thing that many other musicians will want to cover. It will be difficult to top the original, but it does so eloquently emphasize the telepathic link Carlile has with her longtime colleagues. "The Eye," Carlile's most popular on recent tours, is supposed to become a focal point in the catalog.
The album was No. 1 on the charts. 1. On Billboard's Top Rock Album Charts, the first for her. After Bear Creek finished at No. 104, Carlile's second straight album to crack the top ten. 3. Both in the US Folk and Rock categories, the album topped the charts.
