Bobby Enriquez Life

Roberto Delprado Yulo "Bobby" Enriquez (1943-2004), a Filipino jazz pianist, was born in the Philippines, was born in 1946.

Due to his upbeat playing style, he was nicknamed "the Wildman."

Life

Born in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, his first passion was piano, but his mother wanted him to concentrate on schoolwork. He started his career as a musician by the age of 14, sneaking out of his second-story bedroom window at night to perform gigs. When his son found out what he was doing, his mother slowed down the piano and told him to concentrate on homework.

He ran away from home and went to Manila. He joined jazz bands in Manila and traveled to Taipei and Hong Kong, where he met Mel Tormé, Lionel Hampton, Tito Puente, and Chico Hamilton. He worked at the Golden Dragon Lounge in Honolulu. He played for Don Ho in Hawaii and became the music director. He appeared with Amapola Cabase in San Francisco, California, from 1976 to 1977. The Wagon Wheel and Harrah's Hotel in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, were followed by appearances.

He toured Richie Cole from 1980 to 1981 as a sideman. He made several albums for GNP Crescendo over the past four years.

Enriquez was a born again Christian in 1993 and told how God had changed his life. At his Bayonne, New Jersey, he performed jazzy hymns. In Stayton, Oregon, he died as a result of a pulmonary embolism on September 21, 2010.
