Barry Edward Beckett (February 4, 1943-2009) was a keyboardist, session guitarist, record engineer, and studio founder.
He is best known for his collaborations with David Hood, Jimmy Johnson, and Roger Hawkins, his bandmates in the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, who performed with a number of well-known artists on their studio albums and helped define the "Muscle Shoals sound." Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Rod Stewart, Duane Allman, Lynyrd, Dire Straits, and Phish were among the artists Beckett performed with.
He was also a member of the band Traffic for a short time.
Awards and honors
