Bill Prady Life

William Scott Prady (born June 7, 1960) is an American television writer and producer who has appeared on American sitcoms and variety shows, including Married... with Children, Dream On, Star Trek: Voyager, Two and a Half Men, and Gilmore Girls, as the co-creator of The Big Bang Theory and The Muppets.

Early life

Prady was born in Detroit and attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. With four episodes of You Can't Do That on Television (shared credit with Terence Taylor) in the early 1980s, he started his broadcast writing career.

He worked with Jim Henson Productions as a production assistant on a television special about the future of electronics. Prady stayed with the company and worked in the merchandising branch. Prady began writing on projects ranging from Jim Henson's animated Fraggle Rock to The Jim Henson Hour. He was physically caricatured as the puppet "Chip" during his time with The Muppets (The Jim Henson Hour). Prady was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1991 for co-writing "The Muppets Honor Jim Henson," a posthumous tribute to Jim Henson. I Shrunk the Audience. He wrote the Disney theme park attractions Muppet*Vision 3D and Honey.

He co-wrote and sold a new version of Muppet Show with Bob Kushell, who also served as show runner, on April 3, 2015.

In 1995, Stephen Carter's first staff writing assignment was on the HBO series Dream On. He joined the writing staff of Dharma & Greg in 1997, rising to Executive Producer and taking over as Showrunner in 2001. In the City, Good Morning, Caroline, Mangoo Man, and Gilmore Girls, he was also a writer/producer.

Personal life

He was one of 135 candidates running for Governor of California in the 2003 recall election, receiving 474 votes, tying him for 111th place.

Prady, a Z80 programmer at The Small Computer Company, was a programmer at The Small Computer Company. Prady was given honorary membership in the Royal Canadian Institute for the Advancement of Science in 2010. In 2015, asteroid 8630 (1981 EY35) was named 8630 Billprady in his honour.

Prady was honoured with NASA's Exceptional Public Achievement Award in 2013.

Prady appeared in Bill & Ted Face the Music in 2020 for a small cameo role.

By Wayne State University, Prady was granted the degree of Doctor of Human Letters honoris causa in 2022.
