Life and career

Howard, a born in Camberwell, London, was Lilian's younger brother and Ferdinand "Frank" Steiner. Leslie Howard Howard, a film actor, and his sister, Irene Howard, were both the casting director. He married actress Jean Compton Mackenzie (a daughter of actor Frank Compton) in 1936 and they had a son together, the stage actor Alan Howard.

Arthur appeared in numerous television programs, including Whack-O, a school comedy in which he played the hapless assistant headmaster Pettigrew to Jimmy Edwards' headmaster, and he was in the 1960 film version Bottoms Up. He appeared in several films, including American Friends and The Magnificent Seven Deadly Sins, and appeared in the James Bond film Moonraker, but Cavendish was small.

He was detained for importuning and spent a week in jail in 1961. He died in Westminster, London. He is buried in the East London Cemetery.
