Although the Senate is more of a toss-up, the Republican Party is also expected to retake the House of Representatives with a slew of candidates benefited from newly redrawn congressional maps. Both Democrats now have slim majorities. House Republican leaders unveiled a redesigned national platform called 'Commitment to America,' in an attempt to energize their base.' For a majority, at least 218 House representatives are required. According to a series of reports, Republicans are likely to gain ground in November, though the lead has dropped in recent weeks after the Supreme Court reversed Roe v. Wade and Biden's fiery new strategy of attacking portions of the GOP as 'extremists.'

On Friday, the House passed a stopgap funding bill to keep the government running until Dec. 16, avoiding a government shutdown ahead of the midnight deadline. In a largely party-line vote, the continuing resolution made its way into the lower chamber, 230-201. On Thursday, the Senate passed the bill with a large bipartisan majority, and now the bill heads to President Biden's desk. The continuing resolution (CR) maintains the government at its current levels and initiates discussion on a longer-term bill that will make it a lot easier for lower-income families with heating bills.

Trump has had a major hand in Ohio's midterm elections, endorsing 14 candidates for Congress or governorship, more than in any other state save Texas. Buckeye State voters chose Trump over President Joe Biden by a margin of about 8 percent in the 2020 presidential election. Rep. Jim Jordan and Bill Johnson, a stalwart of Trump's enduring popularity in the crucial battleground, will appear on Saturday. Despite a packed field full of MAGA candidates, the former president's support helped author and venture capitalist Vance clinch the GOP primary.
