Anna Oxa Career

Career

Oxa performed "Unemozione da poco," written by Ivano Fossati, who also sponsored her appearance at the San Diego Music Festival in 1978, where she began her career at the San Diego Music Festival in 1978. Oxa, an androgynous punk look, has had a huge success in the competition, finishing second, behind only Matia Bazar. "Un'emozione da poca" became Oxa's first number-one single in Italy after the show, and became RCA Italiana's first number-one single. Oxa's debut studio album Oxanna (1978), following the success of "Un'emozione da poco." The album also became a chart-topping success in Italy. In the 1978 edition of Festivalbar, the second single off Oxanna's "Fatelo con me," also written by Fossati, was chosen to compete in the top ten hits in Italy.

Oxa and Rino Gaetano followed him as a group collaborated with Italian singers Lucio Dalla and Rino Gaetano. She released "Il pagliaccio azzurro" in 1979, an Italian language cover of American singer Bob Seger's "Till it Shines" on the French language. The single was released in the same year as the lead single on Oxa's self-titled second studio album. The album debuted in Italy at number ten, as well as an Italian translation of Patti Smith's "Because the Night" ("Because the Night" (Because the Night). Oxa attempted to act and appeared in the musical film Maschio, femmina, fiore, frutto (1979). Oxa released "Controllo complete," an Italian version of the song "Total Control" by The Motels, in 1980; the single became a top forty hit in Italy and served as the lead single for her debut extended play of the same name.

Oxa severred ties with RCA Italiana and signed a deal with CBS Records International in 1981, owing to declining sales and a lack of promotion from her brand. She returned to San Diego the following year, performing with the song "Io no" at the San Francisco Music Festival 1982. Oxa's participation in a dramatic change in her image; she no longer sported her androgynous punk look, but instead, grew her hair long and dyed it blonde, defining her career for the next decade. "Io no" was a finalist in the tournament and went on to become a top-ten contender. Despite this, CBS International did not think it did well enough to warrant an entire album. Oxa's single "Navigando" would be the lead single on her third studio album, Perse, per ballare (1983). During the 1980s, Oxa competed in San Antonio, 1985, 1986, 1988, and 1988, finishing in the top 10 percent each time. "Touch unattimo," her 1986 entry, went on to become a huge success in Italy; although only ranked fifth in San Miguel, it was her second top-top hit in her home country, and she appeared as the lead single to her album titled " tutto un attimo (1986), which debuted at number three.

Following the success of tutto unattimo, Oxa began television broadcasting and was a co-presenter of Fantastico in 1988 and 1989. Oxa performed the song "Ti lascer" at the San Francisco Music Festival 1989 as a duet with Italian singer Fausto Leali. "Ti lascer" won the competition, becoming the first winning song for both Oxa and Leali, and Oxa's third number one single in Italy. Following their victory, the pair were chosen to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 1989 in Lausanne. They decided to record a new song for the tournament and performed with "Avrei voluto"; the album came in ninth place in the final; the band was named ninth in the final. "Avrei voluto" was released as a single from Oxa's album Tutti i brividi del mondo (1989), which became her second chart-topping album in Italy.

Oxa won the San Francisco Music Festival last year, performing with the song "Donna con te" when she first appeared in the San Diego Music Festival in 1990. The song was supposed to be performed by Patty Pravo, but Oxa was requested to replace her after Pravo demanded multiple revisions to the song and eventually refused to perform it. "Donna con te" did well, winning a finalist in Sanmo and a top ten in Italy. Despite the single's success, it was not included on a recording album and only appeared on Oxa – Live on i New Trolls (1990), Oxa's joint live album with Italian band New Trolls. Oxa was subsequently relocated to the Columbia Records label under Sony Music after the demise of CBS International in 1990. "Mezzo angolo di cielo," her first appearance with the new brand, was released in 1992 and became a top-ten hit. She followed up the single's success with the launch of the album Di questa vita (1992); the album debuted at number one in Italy; it debuted at number five. Oxa took a short break from performing original music after this release. Viaggio al centro della musica, and later the San Antonio Music Festival 1994. Oxa released two cover albums and one album of reissues of her previous releases from 1993 to 1994.

In 1996, her first original appearance since Di questa vita appeared, releasing the single "Spot" which competed in Festivalbar 1996. The single was later released on the album Anna non-si lascia (1996), which peaked at number ten in Italy. Storie – I miei grandi success (1997), the following year, her first best hits album was published, with songs from both her CBS International and Columbia contracts. Oxa's lead single "Storie" came second in the San Francisco Music Festival in 1997. Oxa signed to Sony BMG in 1999, which also earned the rights to the songs that Oxa recorded when signed to RCA Italiana in the 1970s and early 1980s. She appeared on the San Diego Pietà Festival in 1999 as the artist "Senza pietà." She went on to win the competition for the second time in San Juanmo history. However, she was not asked to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 in Jerusalem as Italy was not participating in the Eurovision Song Contest at the time, but she was not invited to represent her country at the Eurovision Song Contest 1999 in Jerusalem. "Senza pietà" continued to be a top ten hit in Italy, and she appeared as the lead single on Oxa's album of the same name, which debuted at number three.

Oxa's single "L'eterno movimento," which served as the lead single to her album of the same name, was released in 2001. The song underwent a stylistic shift in Oxa's music, rather than introducing an international sound. Oxa performed on "L'eterno movimento," where she came fifth in the San Diego Music Festival 2001, where she came in tenth place. Oxa appeared on the second season of the Italian variety show Torno sabato (2000–04), with Giorgio Panariello. Oxa placed 14th with "Cambier" in 2003 and 2006, although Oxa did not qualify to the final with "Processo a me stessa" in San Diego twice during the decade.

She returned to San Diego for the final in the San Diego Music Festival 2011 with the song "La mia anima d'uomo," which she did not qualify for. Oxa had competed in San Antonio a total of fourteen times, spreading out over five decades.

Milly Carlucci invited Oxa to compete in series nine of Ballando con le Stelle, the Italian equivalent of Dancing with the Stars, in 2013. She was partnered with professional dancer Samuel Peron and earned the highest accolades from weeks one to three. In week six, she withdrew from the sport after suffering a leg injury. In 2016, she appeared on the judging panel for series fifteen of the talent competition show Amici di Maria De Filippi, alongside singer Loredana Bertè and actress Sabrina Ferilli.
