Early life and background

On September 9, 1975, Patel was born in a Gujarati family to Amit and Asha Patel. She is the niece of lawyer-politician Barrister Rajni Patel, who was the President of Mumbai's Congress Pradesh Committee. She was born in Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital and has been a qualified Bharatnatyam dancer since the age of five. Her birthname is a combination of the first three letters of her father's name Amit and the last three letters of her mother's name Asha.

She studied at the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai and was head girl for the academic year 1992-1993 before heading to Tufts University in the United States to study Bio-genetic engineering, which she studied for two years and then switched to Economics.

After graduating, Patel's career began as an economic analyst at Khandwala Securities Limited. Morgan Stanley made an appointment later this year, but she turned it down. After returning to India, she joined Satyadev Dubey's theatre group and performed in plays, including an Urdu language play titled Neelam (1999), which was written by Tanveer Khan, after receiving permission from her conservative parents. She leapt into modelling while still being active in a variety of corporate campaigns. Patel has worked for well-known Indian brands including Bajaj, Fair & Lovely, Cadburys, Fem, Lux, and many others.

Personal life

Patel met filmmaker Vikram Bhatt on the set of their first film together, Aap Mujhe Lagne Lage (2002), and they've been dating since the film's release in 1999. Patel and Bhatt families were then caught in a financial crisis after her father used her hard-earned money to revive a family's business, sparking misunderstandings between Patel and her parents. Patel delivered a legal notice to her father in July 2004 for mismanaging her accounts and assets amounting to Rs 120 million and demanding that the money be returned. Patel's affair with Bhatt was often revealed to the media as a result of a potential marriage. Patel and Bhatt's five-year marriage was announced in January 2008. In a chat with Mid-Day, Bhatt revealed the break. Patel's parents' short-term relationship was strained, and they expressed their desire to reconcile with their daughter, who said "everybody is excited about the break up." Patel was interviewed by Kanav Puri, a London-based businessman, at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week on March 12, 2008. In an interview with Mid-Day in June 2008, she revealed that they did not tell Kanav sooner because he is very special and I did not want to jinx it." It was too important for me to talk about it to others. It's been almost six months now, and I am feeling safe, and I can now say that our friendship is too close for anything or anyone to come between us." She had previously stated that she met Puri, but denied the allegations.

Patel and her brother, Ashmit, had patched up on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan's birth and were seen together at PVR Cinemas in Juhu in August 2009. Although the siblings agreed that the situation is settled, they prefer not to reveal it publicly. During an interview with The Times of India in December 2009, Patel's mother Asha announced that they had finally ended their five-year relationship.

In September 2010, Mumbai Mirror announced that Patel ended her long-time partner Kanav Puri's relationship was halted in favour of her work. She announced it on Twitter.

An Air India employee had lodged a police lawsuit in August 2006 charging that Patel had mistreated her after her companion was not upgraded to first class on the Mumbai-New York flight in August. Patel was on her way to attend India's Independence Day parade in New York. Patel could be called in and warned of her conduct, if allegations against her are proven, and could be arrested and prosecuted as she returns from abroad, according to officers at the police station. Later, CISF workers corroborated the Air India workers' account of the incident. "Even if Patel returned to India, she said the employees are only trying to protect themselves by filing a false complaint against us." Ancessfully, there was also a non-alcoholic passenger who participated in the verbal brawl. The annual parade's organizers released a written apology and a clarification to Patel, saying it had reserved two first class seats for Patel and her companion for the Mumbai-New York flight, but the ticket was then transferred from one flight to another, causing confusion.

Ameesha Patel Career

Acting career

In Kaho Naa, Patel's first chance of acting came as a result of an offer from her father's schoolmate, Rakesh Roshan, to act opposite his son, Hrithik Roshan. (2000) The opportunity came right after she graduated from high school, but she turned down the scholarship because she wanted to continue her education in the United States. Kareena Kapoor replaced her later in life, but Kapoor died a few days into the principal photography, and Patel was given the opportunity once more during a family lunch. She was able to complete the task at hand. Patel scope was given to perform by the role of an empowering college girl in love, who was undergoing a difficult time losing her partner and discovering a more mature relationship. The film was a huge success and established Patel as a rising star, receiving awards for Best Debut at a number of award ceremonies. She starred opposite Pawan Kalyan in her second film, the Telugu language drama Badri. The film was a huge success, with more than a 12 percent distributor stake in India.

She appeared in Anil Sharma's cross-border romance Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, alongside Sunny Deol in 2001. Patel blasted Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai but she was one of 22 people screen-tested from 500 girls who applied to audition for the film. Before she was accepted, Patel had been to a 12-hour audition. The film went on to become the best-grossing film of the year, as well as India's biggest hit of the 21st century, earning Rs 973 million. It was set during the 1947 Indo-Pakistani War, starring Patel as Sakeena, a Muslim girl who sought asylum in Deol's house during the riots and then fell for him. Her appearance was lauded, and she received the Filmfare Special Performance Award, as well as nominations for Best Actress at various award ceremonies. "Amisha Patel, despite being one-film-old, deserving this challenging role with elegance," Taran Adarsh of IndiaFM said. She has a natural appearance and portrays the character she is portraying and impresses with her natural appearance." The film was seen as overtly anti-Pakistani.

These were followed by a string of films that fell short of the box office. She was a starving singer in Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar (2001) and was abused by her mother at the time of her birth.

Patel had three setbacks in 2002. She played Sapna in Aap Mujhe Lagne's role, when her own father is imprisoned in protective custody. For the second time in this film, she co-starred with Hrithik Roshan. The film, rather than their fruitful pairing in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, was a disappointment and culminated in a commercial and commercial failure. Patel's role in the film was mocked by a section of the media, but during an interview she said there was no "error" because the scene revealing that her character is ostensibly asthmatic in the film was edited out, confusing the viewer with the feeling of her appearing out of breath, as if she's overacting or crying. With Kranti and David Dhawan's comedy Yeh Hai Jalwa in 2002, Patel's failed sequel continued. She had minor box office success with Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai in which she played a career-oriented young woman who defys Aftab Shivdasani's character. When she last came out of the year, Humraaz, became the fifth top-grossing film of the year, winning her a nomination for the Filmfare Best Actress Award. For the first time, Abbas-Mustan's marital thriller featured her as a woman in negative shades. Akshaye Khanna's girlfriend, who marries Bobby Deol to hoard his fortune, but her character surrenders to him after seeing Bobby's honesty. "Amisha Patel is just about right as Akshaye's love (first half), but second half) is stunning as Bobby's wife. For sure, this appearance would have silenced her detractors. In addition, she has the most stunning make-up and impeccable outfits.

Patel's acting career began slumping from 2003 to 2006. Humraaz's relative success, a series of failed films followed, and it will continue until 2006. Pudhiya Geethai and the Hindi film Deepak Bahry's Parwana were her only releases in 2003. Pudhiya Geethai was the first and only Tamil film in which she appeared. Vimal Kumar's comedy Suno Sasurjee, a postponed release since 2000, was released in 2004, followed by her second Telugu language film Naani. Adnan Sami has also appeared in the music videos for O Meri Jaan and Hai Kasam Tu Na Ja.

Arjun Rampal's unfaitful wife is followed by her obsessive ex-lover, and she starred in Satish Kaushik's dramatic Vainde in 2005. Elaan, Elaan's next film, was a television reporter. She appeared in the film Mangal Pandey: The Rising, a Bengali widow who was saved from commiting Sati by a British commanding officer, later in Ketan Mehta's historical drama. Patel was portrayed as a replacement for Aishwarya Rai on Aamir Khan's recommendation, who was impressed by her IQ level when she first saw her on BBC under the heading of Question Time India in 2003. The film, which culminated in her first appearance, made her the highest-earning at the box office. Zameer: The Fire Within, a postponed production since 2001, and Telugu film Narasimhudu, both of which failed at the box office, were among her year's best sellers.

In 2006, Patel appeared in six films, none of which were commercially successful. Mere Jeevan Saathi, a postponed production since 2003, she appeared alongside Akshay Kumar and Karisma Kapoor in Suneel Darshan's musical drama, Mere Jeevan Saathi. Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai's second appearance, she was playing a blind village girl who is stuck in a love triangle after undergoing eye surgery. Since the death of its chief-producer, the production was put on hold until Patel's boyfriend, Vikram Bhatt, decided to finish the job. With some commentators referring to the film as "outdated," the film was limited and failed to appear at the box office. Patel played a mute girl who witnesses a murder in Teesri Aankh: The Hidden Camera. In order to fit the role, she learned sign language. She was the next actress in Tathastu, which was based on Denzel Washington's thriller John Q (2002).

Despite Patel's loss at the box office, the company's fifth release, Ankahee, earned her critical laud in 2006. Patel played a housewife whose husband cheats on her with a model in the film center. Patel interviewed her own grandmother, who had lived through a similar situation, to gain insight into the mental health of a wronged wife. "It's Ameesha's result that remains in your mind," Diganta Guha of Hindustan Times said. In the film, she is dignity personified, playing a woman convicted of marriage, going all out to save it, and in the end choosing her own path." In Dharmesh Darshan's Aap Ki Khatir, she appeared alongside Akshaye Khanna and Priyanka Chopra later this year.

Patel's career prospects began to improve in 2007 after being involved in a string of box office flops from 2003 to 2006. Honeymoon Travels Pvt, her first release in that year, was the ensemble comedy drama Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd. At the box office, the low-budget film had moderate success. Patel portrayed Karan Khanna's talkative wife who is trying to resolve her husband's gay leanings. Her comedic timing in the film was well received. In Priyadarshan's hit Bhool Bhulaiyaa as a homeless teen accused of attempting to disrupt the marriage of her childhood friend, she co-starred with Akshay Kumar later in 2007.

In Kunal Kohli's Thoda Magic (2008), Patel appeared in a bikini item number, Lazy Lamhe, in an attempt to reclaim her image. For the song, she learned scuba diving, which took her 15 days to complete. Despite the fact that the film failed at the box office, Patel's presence attracted a lot of attention for her appearance.

Following the success of Thoda Magic, Patel has joined two comedies; Run Bhola Run and Chatur Singh Two Stars. Despite being finished in 2009, however, both films were also delayed. She then resurfaced in a return to Rajkumar Santoshi's Power. However, Patel was featured in an ensemble cast starring Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, and Kangana Ranaut, but after eight days of principal photography, the film was shelved. Despite repeated attempts to land a leading role, Patel dropped out of several projects due to a variety of reasons.

Following a two-and-a-half-year absence, she made a return to Telugu film in a short role with Parama Veera Chakra (2011) alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna; the film failed. In the same year, Chatur Singh Two Star, a long-awaited celebrity, saw the light of day for the first time in three years. Despite the trailer and posters being unveiled in late 2010, Run Bhola Run remains unveiled following the company's demise.

Patel Productions, Ameeesha Patel Productions, was launched on April 23rd, 2011, in collaboration with her friend and business partner Kuunal Goomer. Desi Magic, the company's debut home production, was unveiled at an event on April 2, 2013.

Patel returned to Hindi cinema in 2013 with a special appearance in Abbas-Mustan's Race 2, replacing Sameera Reddy as Anil Kapoor's ditzy assistant. Despite the fact that the film was critical, it was nonetheless a box office hit. In Shortcut Romeo, a Hindi remake of the 2006 Tamil hit Thiruttu Payale, she continued her acting with a starring role alongside Neil Nitin Mukesh. The film attracted mixed reviews and failed at the box office.

Desi Magic's teaser trailer was unveiled on December 18, 2014.

Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta appeared in Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018, a film that has been in production since 2012. Critics generally dismissed the film.

Desi Magic's first home production Desi Magic has been completed after six years in existence, according to the company's spokesperson on January 19, 2019. However, it is currently unveiled due to a court dispute.

With a twist, she made it to the reality show Bigg Boss 13. For the first week, she was seen as the maalkin of the house to assign different challenging tasks to the housemates.

Patel is expected to reprise her role as Sakeena in Gadar 2 in 2021, 20 years since its predecessor's debut in Gadar 2 in September 2021.
