Lavaro Gonzalo Fontaine (born May 24, 1964, in Via del Mar, Chile) is a Chilean actor who works in theater, soap operas, and film.
He has received numerous accolades, among them the Apes Prize in 2001 to the best Actor in his role in Amores de mercado and the Altazor Prize in 2008 for his role in Alguien te mira. He was born in Concepción, where he studied at Alianza Francesa.
He and his mother and two siblings returned to his birth city after his parents divorced. He eventually decided for theater after a year of French and another one of Engineering at the Universidad Católica in Valparaso. Gustavo Meza's son studied theater at the academy.
He worked with Canal 13 and later on TVN.
In the majority of his roles, he has been either the main protagonist or one of the main characters. He made his debut in Matilde Dedos Verdes in Canal 13. He first appeared in Estrangedo, a television series in which he played Anbal Donoso, who fell in love with the main character, Mónica Tagle, played by Carolina Fadic. With the lead role of twins Pelluco and Rodolfo, he had a great success in the soap opera Amores de mercado. He also appeared in Alguien te mira as a psychopath killer.
