Ross Kemp Career

Acting career

Kemp received his Equity card after attending the Palace Theatre in Westcliff-on-Sea, where he appeared with John Thaw and Richard Wilson.

As Graham Lodsworth, Kemp went on to appear in preparation films for the Ministry of Defence and the ITV soap opera Emmerdale Farm (now Emmerdale). Several appearances in Burning and Birds of a Feather followed, before he appeared in the 1987 film Playing Away with Neil Morrissey.

Kemp appeared in an Anglia Television drama called The Chief in 1990. Kemp appeared in Call Sign Bravo, a comedy in which Kemp was cast as Police Constable Dennis Scovell. He also appeared in a golf themed commercial for Kellogg's Fruit & Fibre cereal around the same time.

In the BBC soap opera EastEnders, Kemp's most well-known role is that of hardman Grant Mitchell. His character appeared on television during the 1990s, particularly to Sharon Watts (Letitia Dean) and then Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon), as well as the "Sharongate" storyline, which saw brother Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) having an affair with Grant's wife, which was revealed two years after it began.

Kemp revealed on March 24th, 1999, that after almost ten years, he would be out of the soap early next year. After surviving a car accident in October 1999, his character was exported to Brazil. Kemp refused to rule out a return to EastEnders in the future, and several media outlets over the next few years rumors that he would return to the series at some point. Kemp will be back to EastEnders in the fall of 2005 after six years away, according to the BBC. Even though his comeback would be brief, co-star Barbara Windsor convinced him to return. His first comeback lasted just a few weeks from October 2005, but he returned in March 2006, just weeks after leaving for the first time in June this year.

Kemp would make a short return to the show for Grant's on-screen mother, Peggy Mitchell (played by Windsor), who appeared in three episodes during May and June of this year. He filmed a further three weeks and returned for brief stints from 4 July to September 2016.

Kemp went from the BBC to ITV for a reported £1.2 million two-year contract following his initial departure from EastEnders. In Hero of the Hour, Kemp's first appearance on ITV was in Hero of the Hour. Kemp needed hospitalization after being shot in the chest when a stunt went wrong. Since the safety glass cracked, he suffered cuts to his chest and face, and he was also struck in the chest by the expulsion of a blank round. He was treated by paramedics on the scene and made a complete recovery.

Kemp appeared in A Christmas Carol on ITV in 2000. In 2000 and 2002's Ultimate Force, where he played Army Staff sergent Henry Garvie from the British Special Air Service, he was one of the lead roles in the television series Without Motive and In Defence. He continued to serve in this role until 2006. In the 2004 TV movie Spartacus, he appeared in "Cirra."

Kemp appeared in an episode of BBC Extras and in a two-part adaptation of the Gerald Seymour novel A Line in the Sand for ITV in 2005. He has appeared on The Friday Night Project and appeared as a stand-in host on The Paul O'Grady Show (2007, 2008).

Kemp appeared in the 4th episode of BBC's Top Gear's top gear. Jeremy Clarkson put him on "Man in Boot" of a Renault Twingo Sport being tested by him. Clarkson led the car off the quayside of Belfast Harbour, after whom Clarkson jokingly said that Kemp had been killed. Kemp also appeared in Series 1, where he did a 1 minute 54 seconds (wet) in the "Star in a Reasonably Priced Car" segment.

In an appeal against school-run parents, a frustrated pensioner, 70, goes to war with council, threatening to 'turn his house into a migrant hotel' (but neighbors insist it's just nimbyism and he's got his knickers in a twist)

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 20, 2024
EXCLUSIVE: John Walsh, 70, has been smuggish to Medway Council over the state of the road surface in Lambourn Way in Chatham, Kent, for ten years. He has also raised concerns about "inconsiderate" parking by parents of children at St Benedict's RC Primary School and motorists, who commuted the street and nearby Knole Road as a 'rat race.' However, the father-of-five claims he has been 'ignored' by councillors and treated like a Nimby. 'This house was sold to me on the condition that it was a quiet road,' he said from his four-bedroom detached house yesterday.' The estate agent said there was a school nearby, but they didn't want to say it was right on top of us. It was sold to me in the summer holidays because they don't want people to come around when the school chaos begins.'

In a fight over costs, Ross Kemp has had Channel 5's show visiting the world's most expensive prisons

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 24, 2024
Ross Kemp has seen his Channel 5 documentary about the world's most dangerous jails be cancelled halfway through filming its new season. The actor had been shooting his Ross Kemp: 72 Hours In... series, which was supposed to see him go back to prison in one of South America's most notorious jails. However, despite filming one episode in Colombia last year, the entire series has been cancelled due to budget disagreements, with bosses at the channel reportedly expressing disappointment at how costly it was becoming to shoot. This was then compounded by a coup in Ecuador days before production was scheduled to begin at a prison in the country, with an insider saying that the budget constraints were 'unrealistic to continue'. When it was revealed last year, Channel 5 has reportedly announced the cancellation of the series, which had been hailed by the TV company as one of the country's top documentaries.
