Born in Beyolu, Istanbul, Pekkan's musical career began in the early 1960s as a member of the music group Los atikos. However, she became known as an actress in 1963, when she won the Ses magazine's cinema artist competition, and she pursued an acting career for a number of years. She starred in her first film, Adanal Tayfur, in which she became one of Turkey's youngest stars at the time. She appeared in nearly 50 black and white films over the past six years, including psevdi (1963), Hzr Dede (1964), and aka ile Karz (1965). She then redirected her attention away from acting and toward her singing careers.

Pekkan spent the first twenty years of her singing career with hundreds of songs released as cover versions. These songs, which were mainly written by Fikret eneş and included "Kimler Geçti," "Palavra Palavra", "Sana Ne Kime Ne," "Bambaşku Ne" and "O Benim Dünyam"), have since become among the best known songs of both Pekkan and Turkish pop music, including "O Benim Dünyam," "Sana Ne Kier Sen," "Palavra She worked with many writers and arrangers, including ehrazat and Sezen Aksu, from the 1990s to the present, including ehrazat and Sezen Aksu. Although she does not identify herself as a feminist, many of her albums, which tell the tales of wealthy women, were used as feminist anthems.

Early life

Ajda Pekkan was born in Istanbul on February 12, 1946. She is of Bosniak descent. Rdvan Pekkan, the marine, was a sea captain, and her mother, Gülten Nevin Dobruca, was a housewife. Pekkan and her family later moved to Gölcük, Kocaeli, due to her father's work. Pekkan, a girl who always wanted to have a child, married for the first time in her 20s and then told her that not having children was the hardest decision she had made to continue her career. "She has opened this way to us," Sezen Aksu, a close friend of Pekkan, said about her influence on her: "She has opened this way to us" thanks to her. I am here too." Angela is Ajda, Ajda's nickname. Personal life

Pekkan married Coşkun Sapmaz on November 17, 1973. The marriage lasted only for six days. At the Izmir Fair in 1979, she spoke to journalist Erol Yaraş for the second time. Metin Akpnar and Zeki Alasya presented the couple's engagement rings. Ali Bars married her in 1984. The couple were married for six years. Pekkan's biggest regret is that she didn't have children. Six of her pregnancies ended in abortion because she wanted to concentrate on her work. Pekkan has appeared in many places within and outside Turkey, and, in addition to Turkish, has sung in English, French, Italian, and Japanese.

Pekkan, who did not complete her studies at a girl's high school, began her music and acting career early and took singing lessons from Leyla Demiriş.

Pekkan obtained citizenship from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in 2017.

Career

She met lham Gencer, the owner of "at" nightclub in 1961, and started her musical career by singing Mina's "Il Cielo In Una Stanza" in a few venues for a while, with the support of the "Los tatikos" music group. Pekkan was first ranked first in the women's category in 1963, followed by Hülya Koçyiit. She began to attract attention by winning the competition and in her sleek style.

Fecri Ebciolu, who helped her with her music career and produced Pekkan's first album, Yerde Kar Var, which is Salvatore Adamo's Turkish interpretation of the song Tombe la neige, she performed before starting her acting career.

Pekkan and Ebciolu formed Pekkan and Ebciolu's collaboration on several recordings, where Ebciolu would write the Turkish lyrics for famous French, Italian, or English songs and Pekkan would perform them in her own unique style throughout the 1960s. In 1967, her album ki Yabanc, which is Frank Sinatra's Turkish version of the song Strangers in the Night, broke Turkey's sales records.

She appeared at the International Apollo Music Festival in Athens, where she performed the songs "Ozleyis" and "Perhaps One Day" in 1968 and 1969, respectively. She appeared at the Mediterranean Song Festival in Barcelona in 1969, as well as Turkey's "Vive Ben imdi" by the singer. Her songs have appeared on the soundtracks of several films since the 1960s. She has since joined Zeki Müren.

By the 1970s, she had stopped working with Fecri Ebciolu and started working with Fikret eneş. Sensiz Yillarda, the company's first collaboration, set another sales record in Turkey. This album was first published under the name Philips, who had signed her a year before. This will also be Pekkan's career, where she will start releasing records in countries outside of Turkey. Pekkan, who moved to stanbul Plak in 1972, set a new sales record with her 45RPM, Dert Bende Derman Sende, an arabesque style song. Fikret eneş, the singer of 1973, was steadfast in his recording of the song "Kimler Geldi Kimler Geçti," despite Pekkan's objection that the song was not her style. However, "Kimler Geldi Kimler Geçti" would be a big success in 1973, after being included on the B-side of the 45RPM's "Kaderimin Oyunu" on the B-side. Nino Varon has said that the album "Kimler Geldi Kimler Geçti" is the most meaningful song to be written in Turkey.

Pekkan collected her songs from all previous albums, except the one released by Istanbul Plak in 1972, and included them in her first compilation album Ajda, which was released in July 1975. "Erkek Adn," a new song on the album, was also included. The album piqued my attention. In this album, Cüneyt Türel appeared on the song "Palavra Palavra."

Pekkan, a singer who was known as "Superstar" by 1977, released her latest album Süperstar, with different cover styles and production. "A Mes Amours" was her debut at the Yamaha Music Festival in Tokyo in the same year. At the time, Pekkan performed a concert in Tehran, and the Turkish audience responded well to it, broadcasting this program on television and well received it.

Following Turkey's weak results in the last year, Pekkan's increasing fame in the region and Europe caused her to campaign for Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 1980 and rebuild the country's general image. Despite initially refusing to participate in the competition because she found it "amateur," she eventually accepted TRT's offer. The singer's career with Philips Records came to an end after "Pet'r Oil" and she signed a new one with Yaşar Kekeva Plak. She also stopped performing in Turkey and began to perform only in Turkey. Sen Mutlu Ol, a LP record, was released by the company in 1981, complying with the country's arabesque music trend. However, if she was dissatisfied with the results, she did not want to work with the same company on a second album. Yaşar Kekeva was formally arrested by her reluctance to record her second highest record. During this period, Kekeva released seven songs that were intended for the previous album but not released in it. These songs were released under a new album titled Sevdim Seni (1982) without Pekkan's permission. However, Pekkan owes three more songs to the company, and it was not legally possible for her to release a new album or sign with a new firm before the completion of these songs. She returned to the studio and recorded three new songs, and her album Sevdim Seni was edited and republished in March 1983, and her friendship with Yasar Kekeva Plak came to an end.

Ajda Pekkan appeared on the Istanbul Open-Air Theater with Metin Akpnar and Zeki Alasya in August 1982, the first time in nearly two years. Eneş produced six songs for the musical, including some of the songs that would be included in Pekkan's next album, but she collaborated again with Fikret eneş. Pekkan's ninth studio album, Süperstar 83, was released in March 1983 by Balet Plak. For five weeks, the album topped the Hey magazine's Local Pop Music/Foreign Pop Music chart. The musical Süperstar Ajda '83 appeared at the Istanbul Music Hall in Istanbul. Various songs from this album, including "Uykusuz Her Gece," "Bir Günah Gibi," "Son Yolcu," "Düşünme Hiç," and "Düşünme Hiç," became among Pekkan and Turk pop music's best-known songs. The album received the Life Music LP of the Year award at the 1983 Music Oscars, a Hey magazine event. Pekkan was named the Year's Best Music Artist of the Year in 1984, thanks to the album's success.

Pekkan appeared in a leading role in the film 'Feat Sandal' in 2002, alongside Ediz Hun and Halil Ergün. To this date, the film, which was created by Oya Demirtok and directed by Ayşe Ersayn, has not been released.

Pekkan's single "Yakar Geçerim," written by respected Turkish singer Tarkan, which ranked second on Turkey's official music charts in 2011, debuted in 2011. Farkin Bu's album was released a month after the single was released. The album debuted first on D&R's list of best-selling albums in Turkey, and it eventually sold 175,000 copies. "Ara Scak" was her second single released in 2013. The song was written by Turkish singer Gülşen and ranked third on the official Turkish music charts. Pekkan has continued her career by releasing singles "Yakarm Cann" (2015), "Ayrlk Ateşi" (2016), and "Cann Sa Yapta" (2019), the first of which appeared on Turkey's official charts at number one.
