Xenia Ghali (born 1989) is a Greek composer, record producer, and disc jockey.

She is the producer of Funky Sheep Records and is known for her dance music singles and fashion oriented videos.

Early life

Ghali was born in 1989 in Paris, France, and was raised in Athens, Greece, to a Greek mother and Egyptian father. She is the oldest of two siblings. Since the age of 5, Ghali has been classically trained on the piano and flute. After forming a high school band in which she played lead guitar, she learned the guitar and the drums at the age of 15. Ghali began writing during her time in the band. She came from the United Kingdom and studied music at the University of Surrey, earning a bachelor's degree in Creative Music Technology in 2008. She earned a master's degree from NYU (New York University) in Film Scoring, Music Composition, and Production in 2012.

Career

Ghali began DJing with turntables and appeared in clubs throughout the United Kingdom, including Ministry of Sound. She received fourth place in the Pan-European AACTe Apple Creative Talent Competition, which Apple sponsored.

Ghali enrolled in the Film Scoring, Music Composition, and Production Master's degree at New York University after earning her bachelor's degree. She appeared in the 2013 iStandard Producer Showcase in New York City and was one of two finalists. She spent the summer of 2013 in Greece, appearing at a number of live events, including the 2013 MAD Video Music Awards, the 2013 MAD Video Music Awards, and the 2013 Str8 Forward Festival.

In 2013, Ghali founded Funky Sheep Records.

Ghali co-wrote and produced Ben Moon's "Change" in May 2014, which was also remixed by José Nunez.

In August 2014, she joined Pitbull's record label Mr 305 and unveiled her debut single "Broken" with Katt Rockell; the song debuted on US Dance Radio at number 30. The track was unveiled in a fashion-focused video. With Tamta's "Gennithika Sena," Ghali released a somewhat different interpretation of "Broken" in Greek. Minos EMI first published it in 2014. On Greek radio, "Gennithika Sena" peaked at number two. She appeared at the 2014 MADwalk – Fashion Music Project.

She co-wrote and produced her album "Open Eyes" with Greek Pop star Sakis Rouvas in summer 2014. In Greek, "Pio Psila" was also published on "Open Eyes." Ghali also remixed a number of songs on Mr 305, such as Pitbull's "Fun" which featured Chris Brown and Mr Vegas' "My Jam," which featured Pitbull.

Ghali spent time in the United States later in 2014 and appeared on 'Remix Top 30' in Hollywood Hamilton. Wyclef Jean made a guest appearance on her set and performed their single "Get Dirty." At the 2015 SXSW in Austin, Texas, the two also performed "Get Dirty; Ghali operated the turntables and played the piano. Funky Sheep Records' label first announced the track in 2015.

Hardwell was given an award at the 2015 Winter Music Conference IDMA in Miami, Florida, by Ghali. Ghali's label Funky Sheep Records released "Under These Lights" in 2016. The single debuted at number one on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart on June 18, 2016. The chart position culminated in an interview with Billboard, as well as interviews with The Huffington Post and AOL.

Ghali has appeared on "Under These Lights" on Greece's X Factor, as well as being a brand ambassador for G-Star Raw, Adidas, and Eastpak in Greece. At the end of 2016, Ghali's single "Places" was released, and it features vocals from singer-songwriter and actress Raquel Castro. Ryan Kelley, a teenage Wolf star, appears in the song's music video. Ghali's second top-two Billboard Dance Club Song Chart position was earned by her song "Places."

Ghali's label Sirup Music released her single "Stick Around" on January 26, 2018. The female artist spoke out about the fact that inspired the release of Syrup Music: "EDX was actually one of the DJs who received the album." Then to my surprise, he told me that he was interested in releasing it under Sirup Music (his brand) and, of course, I accepted!"

In "Get Ready" by Pitbull starring Blake Shelton, Xenia Ghali's beat from "Black Betty's Worldwide" was used as a sample on September 27, 2019. On January 30, 2020, the song was released as a single, and a YouTube video of Pitbull's YouTube channel premiered on February 10, 2020. Ghali was recognized by the producer for her contribution to the song's production.

Ghali has DJed at a few of the world's best clubs, including the Ministry of Sound, Cavo Paradiso, Cielo, and Nikki Beach, and he has performed with DJs including Steve Aoki, Erick Morillo, Don Diablo, Don Diablo, Cedric Gervais, and Jay Hardway.
