Winky D Life

Winky D (born Wallace Chirumiko in Harare, Zimbabwe, 31 January 1983) is a Zimbabwean reggae-dancehall performer best known as "The Big Man" (stylized as "Di Big Man") and also known as Dancehall Igwe.

He is often regarded as the Zimdancehall king.

He was born in Kambuzuma, Zimbabwe's capital. Winky D was one of the artists featured in the Southern Africa Music Airwaves (SAMA) Festival 2009.

Early life

Winky D was born in Kambuzuma, Harare, Zimbabwe. He loved music at an early age, and he began listening to reggae music at the age of eight. So that he could listen to reggae music, he'll spend time searching for and finding audio tapes and records. Trevor Chirumiko, who is also known as Layan, is Winky D's brother. Layan is also a music arranger, singer, and a host.

Wallace Chirumiko attended primary and secondary school in Harare. He started at Rukudzo Primary School and then Kambuzuma High School.

Winky D started appearing at small functions and concerts as a child. When he was 16, Winky appeared at Getto Lane Clashes, which were DJ contests for identifying the gifted, and he was spotted. He was dubbed 'Wicked DeeJay,' but that was shortened to Winky D. He was given the name after a long time because of his music message, which was incredibly popular. His lyrics were explicit, boasting of violence and immorality. However, from 2013, he began singing gospel and also encouraging youths to avoid taking drugs.

Winky D has risen to fame in Zimbabwean and African urban/reggae music, with names such as "King of Dancehall," "Gombwe," "Messi ggae," and "Wafa," being linked to him in the ghettos.

Population Services International and the Ministry of Health and Child Welfare initiated a Winky D and Albert Nyoni (Vanyoni Beats) "If you know you are a champion, get circumcised." On January 19, 2012, the band was released in Harare.

Winky D, Guspy Warrior, and Terry Fabulous from Chimurenga Drive in Zengeza were due to perform with Capleton on New Year's Eve in December 2010. However, after struggling to find common ground, the "Musarova big guy" actor canceled all his planned performances from Capleton's Zimbabwean tour.

Following conflicting reports regarding the musician's whereabouts during the inauguration gala held in August 2013 at the National Sports Stadium, Winky D did not appear at President Robert Mugabe's inauguration gala held in August 2013.

Winky D appeared at the Monash Beer Festivity in Johannesburg, South Africa, alongside Black Coffee, Cabo Snoop, Dj Betto, Dj Leks, TshepNOZ, and Sipho, Dj Luo and Kay Mack.
