Life and career

Fitzgerald earned her Bachelor's Degree in Theater Studies from Yale University after first studying psychology for three years.

Fitzgerald starred Lola Laffer in the Amazon Studios political web television series Alpha House from 2013 to 2014. The series ran for two seasons before being cancelled. Fitzgerald appeared in USA Network's drama series Royal Pains as Emma Miller on April 23, 2014. She appeared in numerous television series, including Blue Bloods, Following, and Gotham, between 2014 and 2015.

Fitzgerald appeared in MTV's Scream on August 5, 2014. The show was revived for a second season on July 29, 2015, after being announced on May 30, 2016. MTV revealed on April 26, 2017 that Scream would get a makeover.

Several of Fitzgerald's theater credits include performances such as Couple in the Kitchen, The Private Sector, Cow Play, and The Cat and the Canary. She appeared in August 2016, was part of Lucky McKee's film Misfortune, directed by Lucky McKee, and was released in October 2017 under the heading Blood Money.

She appeared in the go90 web series Relationship Status in January 2016. In a two-episode arc, she played Beth.

Fitzgerald was cast in the Fox television pilot Behind Enemy Lines, playing Navy pilot Roxanne Daly in March 2017, but Fox cancelled him in May 2017. Fitzgerald was cast to appear Meg in the BBC miniseries Little Women, based on Louisa May Alcott's book of the same name. On Boxing Day, 2017, it premiered.

Fitzgerald appeared in an episode of Netflix's anthology drama collection Heartstrings in December 2018. On November 22, 2019, the series premiered. Fitzgerald will appear in the sixth season of the TV Land comedy-drama series Younger in April 2019.

In March 2021, Fitzgerald was cast as officer Roscoe Conklin in the first season of Amazon Prime Video's Reacher, which debuted in February 2022. She was confirmed to star in Steven Brand's noir thriller Joe Baby in June 2022.

In the new trailer for Desperation Road, a young woman on the run has no choice but to trust an ex-con and his family. Garrett Hedlund stars as Russell Gaines, the ex-con, with Willa Fitzgerald playing the woman, Maben, plus Mel Gibson playing Russell's father, with the actor making national television news. Nadine Crocker (Continue) directed the film from Michael Farris Smith's script, which he adapted from his own 2017 book of the same name.
