Early life
Virgil was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on February 8, 1981, to his mother "Gal" and his father Tab Virgil Sr. He grew up in the Magnolia Projects in the Third Ward and attended Fortier High School before dropping out. He was discovered by a birdman rapping with Magnolia Shorty at a block party.
Career
His debut album Young & Thuggin' became a top ten hit on the Billboard 200. After the demise of the Hot Boys in 2001 and his departure from Cash Money in 2003, he signed an agreement with producer Ke'Noe at Laboratory Recordz and released two albums Raw & Uncut and Penitentiary Chances. Turk was found guilty on federal charges of being a criminal in possession of a pistol, a fugitive from prison in possession of a firearms, and a unlawful user addicted to a controlled drug in possession of a firearm in 2005. The charges arose from the shooting of a Memphis, Tennessee police officer in early 2004. He was sentenced to ten years in prison. He entered an Alford plea to second-degree attempted murder in 2006, based on the same occurrence, and was sentenced to 14 years in prison.
Though Ke'Noe was imprisoned, Two albums of unreleased Turk verses called Still A Hot Boy and Convicted Felons were released, and Convicted Felons was released. The albums' profits from the last two releases were published on Turk's prison books. After almost nine years of imprisonment, Turk was released from jail in October 2012. Turk produced "Zip It" in December 2012, starring Lil Wayne. A remix of Juvenile was created and released a week later. A version with Turk, Lil Wayne, Juvenile, and B.G. appeared in February 2013. The official Hot Boys reunion song was created and released. "Blame It On The System," Turk's soundcloud-based mixtape "Blame It On The System."
