Inside the street with 10 different bins: Neighbours forced to meticulously separate their waste call for their sky-high council tax to be spent elsewhere

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 27, 2024
It may be one of the most socially deprived towns in the UK with one of the highest rates of council tax, but there's hardly a scrap of litter in Ebbw Vale's High Street. Locals are proud of their recycling record - but even the most eco-friendly in Blaenau Gwent, South Wales found ten different bins a step too far. Locals, who pay the highest council tax in the UK at £2,099 for a Band D home, say their hard-earned cash would be better spent on repairing potholes and cutting back overgrown trees and hedges. But while the number of bins may seem excessive, many residents of the former steel town say they would still be segregating their rubbish into 10 different piles.
