Sven Ulreich Career

Club career

He was Stuttgart II's first-choice goalkeeper during the 2007-08 Regionalliga season's first four matches, winning two clean sheets in that time. During the previous season, he appeared in ten games, receiving two yellow cards.

He was promoted to VfB Stuttgart's first squad in January 2008. But he also played for the reserve team again. In the 3–1 loss to Hertha BSC, he made his first appearance as the starting goalkeeper against MSV Duisburg on February 9, 2008.

Ulreich resigned at VfB Stuttgart on April 6, 2010, until the summer of 2013. He continued his employment until June 2017 on January 20, 2012, extending his deal until June 2017.

Ulreich migrated to Bayern Munich in 2015-2016 for the 2015–16 season. He had been at Stuttgart since 1998.

Ulreich joined Bayern prior to the 2015-16 season and signed a deal until 2018. In the 2015 DFL-Supercup, he was on the bench replacing the injured. He made three appearances in the 2015–16 season. He made seven appearances in the 2016–17 season.

Because of a long-term injury to first-choice goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, he was able to play regularly for Bayern Munich during the 2017-18 season. Ulreich started the 2017–18 season by playing in the German Super Cup. Ulreich was instrumental in Bayern Munich's re-election in a 1–4 victory over FC Augsburg on April 7th, 2018. Bayern Munich was still eliminated from the 2017–18 Champions League partially due to Ulreich's goalkeeping mishap against Real Madrid in the semi-finals. On aggregate, Bayern lost 4–3. In total, he appeared in 47 games in the 2017–18 season.

After Bayern signed Alexander Nübel in the summer of 2020, amid a lot of public interest, speculations arose as to who would be Manuel Neuer's backup in the future. Ulreich also increased to 2. Hamburger SV, a Bundesliga club, commenced signing a three-year deal in early October 2020 right before the transfer window came to an end. Under new head coach Daniel Thioune, the 32-year-old took over as the starter rather than Daniel Heuer Fernandes.

Ulreich's deal with HSV was terminated prematurely on June 4, 2021.

Ulreich returned to Bayern Munich on June 27, 2021.

International career

Ulreich was also a member of the Germany U16, Germany U19, and Germany U21 teams, and the senior team was given a call-up.
