Summer Bishil Life

Summer Yasmine Bishil (born July 17, 1988) is an American actress.

She first came to fame in the 2007 film Crossing Over for Jasira and as Taslima.

Margo Hanson, a Syfy fantasy drama series The Magicians' actress, is also known for her role as Margo Hanson.

Early life

Bishil was born in Pasadena, California, and she is the youngest of three children. Her mother is of Mexican descent, but her father is of Indian origins. The family moved to Saudi Arabia and then to Bahrain, where she and her brother attended British and American schools in 1991.

The family returned to the United States after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. They transferred to a Mormon neighborhood in San Diego, where she spent a week at a regular public high school. Her classmates did not greete her kindly due to the post-9/11 unrest in the United States. "I hated it," she said, explaining that the return was not straightforward. On the first day of school, I was identified as a whore, and someone said that my dad funded terrorism. I was just sure that no one was going to want to be my friend there. "I had panic attacks the first year of my life." The family then moved to Arcadia, where her mother homeschooled her. She took classes at Citrus College in Glendora, California.

Summer Bishil Career

Career

At the age of 14, Bishil began acting lessons. She was accepted into a long-term contract with a boss and company within a year. Bishil's first appearance was on the short-lived Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances in several other children's shows.

In Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007, a sequel to the novel of the same name, Bishil's breakthrough came as the lead. "Her appearance in a film that, despite its positive intentions, makes it feel utterly phony and mildly insulting, like an extended PSA on inappropriate touching." Bishil is one of the finest natural film actresses to emerge in years," Bob Strauss, a Los Angeles newspaper reporter, says. "Newcomer Summer Bishil makes a dramatic, quietly riveting appearance as Jasira," Gary Goldstein said in a Los Angeles Times review of the film Towelhead on September 12, "in a newcomer Summer Bishil gives a brave, quietly riveting appearance as Jasira."

Associated Press's Jay Reiner praised her role in Wayne Kramer's film, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd, a role that received some critical feedback from Associated Press' Jay Reiner in 2009. She was selected to appear in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender, and it was supposed to be the subject of the forthcoming but never-produced sequel.

In 2013, Bishil was cast as Samira, one of the lead characters in the ABC drama Lucky 7. Bishil was cast in the role of Margo Hanson in the Syfy drama series The Magicians, which ended after five seasons in late 2014.
