Stepfanie Kramer Career

Career

Kramer's professional acting career began in the late 1970s, when she was still in high school. Kramer graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts/West, where she has occasionally taught as a visiting instructor. In 1983, Kramer appeared in the NBC sitcom We Got It Made. She made her big break in 1984 when she landed a leading role as Sgt. Dee McCall in the internationally popular crime drama Hunter, a creation of television mogul Stephen J. Cannell. The show was on for seven seasons after getting off to a rocky start. Kramer appeared in six of them, assassinating in 130 episodes. Kramer admitted that she had not expected the show to be as long-lived as it was in an interview with Jay Leno in 1989, and was thankful for its global fame and long-running success.

Kramer said she was recording with composer Mike Post, who had written the Hunter's songs in 1986. She teased that an album would be out the following year. No album was forthcoming, though Kramer revealed her departure from Hunter in 1990. According to the publication, it was necessary to concentrate on her music career.

Nils Lofgren, a producer from Hunter, began recording an album in England a few months after leaving Hunter. The album was never released. Kramer married in 1992. She gave birth to a daughter two years ago. She continued to write music and appear in made-for-TV and indie films. She is a trained mezzo-soprano, and she appeared on many episodes of Hunter, as well as Bob Hope television specials. On October 12, 1999, Kramer's first album One Dream was released. It features ten adult contemporary songs. The majority of the originals are from Spain. In early 2008, the Great American Song Book, her second album, was released. Kramer performs 14 classic songs in a one-woman performance in various national venues. In 2008, she represented the United States at the International Music Festival in Queretero, Mexico.

She appeared in several television shows and films since being fired from Hunter. Coins in a Fountain (1992), Beyond Suspicion (1994), Trust (1995), The Dogwalker (1999), and The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold (2006). She reprised her role as Dee McCall in two Hunter television films, which were the year's top-rated films (2002 and 2003). The 2003 revival of NBC attempted to revive the famous television show, but it was cancelled after only three episodes.

Kramer co-produced feature films, as well as writing feature films and television shows with writer/producer Chip Hayes. In a book reading of the New York musical A Twist of Fate, Kramer appeared in a book reading. She appeared in Menopause—The Musical's Los Angeles stage performance.

Dee Sanders, a playwright, appeared on Pure Flix's internet series The Encounter, as a guest. In the CW series The Secret Circle (2012), she portrayed matriarch Kate Meade. Susan appeared in Crossing's 2019 film. Dorothy Calvin was portrayed by Kramer in the Hallmark film A Merry Christmas Match in 2020.
