Stefan de Vrij (born 5 February 1992) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for Inter Milan and the Netherlands national team as a centre back.
He began his career with VV Spirit in his hometown, and he debuted as a Feyenoord professional aged 17. He spent five seasons at the Evolvie club, briefly as captain before joining Lazio in July 2014.

Early life
De Vrij grew up in Ouderkerk, den IJssel. He is the youngest son of Jan de Vrij, who competed for local club VV Spirit, where Stefan de Vrij started his career. Both Niels and Eric, his older brothers, played football as a youth and then moved to different professions.
Club career
De Vrij served for Ouderkerk aan den IJssel club VV Spirit for five seasons. He attended a Feyenoord talent day at the age of ten. De Vrij was invited to join Feyenoord's youth team after various training sessions and a friendly match against ARC. De Vrij Spirit often played as a central midfielder, but at Feyenoord, he became a defender. The youngster developed himself quickly. De Vrij, who played for Feyenoord U15, was one of the first players to leave the U16 squad to play in the U17 immediately.
De Vrij signed his first professional deal with Feyenoord on July 17, 2009, just after summer 2012. On September 24, 2009, De Vrij made his official debut for Feyenoord's first team when he replaced Kelvin Leerdam in the 58th minute in the KNVB Cup away match against Harkemase Boys (0–5). De Vrij made his Economy debut in the home match against FC Groningen (3–1) on December 6, 2009, when he replaced Denny Landzaat in the 89th minute. He made 21 appearances in his first professional season, 18 of which were in the league.

With the 2015 Supercopa Italiana, he began his second season as the complete 90 minutes of a 2–0 loss to Juventus in Shanghai. He sustained a knee injury while on international service in September, but was cleared to play a further match for the Netherlands, enforcing Lazio's medical staff. He did not make a full recovery and was undergoing an operation the following month. It was announced in November that he would miss the next six months due to the injury.
In a 1–1 away draw to Chievo on September 11, he scored his first goal for the team in Serie A.

Following months of rumors, De Vrij revealed on May 28th, 2018 that he would join Inter Milan, which would begin on July 1st. De Vrij was in Germany on the 2009 UEFA European Under-17 Football Championship. He was one of four Feyenoord defenders named in Louis van Gaal's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The referee kicked a questionable penalty kick after 26 minutes, when Diego Costa stood on De Vrij's foot and collapsed in the Netherlands' first game of the tournament against Spain on June 13. Spain beat Spain 1–0 on penalties thanks to Xabi Alonso's conversion of this foul.
