Confessions of a Shopaholic author Sophie Kinsella, 54, says she is undergoing treatment for an aggressive form of brain cancer

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 17, 2024
The 54-year-old Confessions of a Shopaholic writer shared the devastating news in a post on X. 'To my dear readers and followers, I've wanted for a long time to share with you a health update and I've been waiting for the strength to do so,' the Londoner wrote today. Kinsella, whose real name is Madeleine Sophie Wickham, then posted a statement outlining her condition. 'At the end of 2022, I was diagnosed with glioblastoma, a form of aggressive brain cancer,' she said.

SARAH OLIVER: When a crisis in the Middle East exploded, my first son was just a few months old. The call came from the news desk: did I want to go, since I was the foreign correspondent? Despite the dopamine rush of the call and the unshakeable love I have for newspapers, my answer was no. I didn't want to leave my son when they arrived. Well, maybe not. He's almost 18 years old, on the verge of flying the nest for university, but our parting will be determined by his terms, not mine.
