Sheryl Cruz Career

Acting career

Cruz began her career at the age of four. She was nominated for her role in Mga Basang Sisiw opposite Janice de Belen, Che Che Che Che, and Julie Vega. She appeared in Ang Leon (1980) with Fernando Poe Jr., and in Tropang Bulilit (1981) with Nio Muhlach and Lea Salonga.

She was later employed by Regal Films, as well as Kristina Paner and Manilyn Reynes, to form the group 'Triplets.' Manilyn Reynes became the Star of the New Decade, and Sheryl Cruz became the Princess of Philippine Cinema. Around the time, GMA Network introduced That's Entertainment, hosted by German Moreno, where she first joined the Wednesday group.

Her film career flourished as one of Philippine cinema's most memorable love teams, including herself and Romnick Sarmenta. Cruz then signed a Seiko Films deal. She married and moved to the United States later. Cruz's brother Ms. Vilma Santos-Recto, governor of Batangas, decided to return home and appeared in her comeback film, Mano Po III: My Love, in August 2004.

Despite being in a afternoon timeslot, Cruz's best break was appearing in two seasons of Now and Forever, Tinig, and Ganti, which attracted high ratings (equivalent to that of a primetime show). Valeria, her antagonist character, became a household name on Bakekang. After her time on GMA, she migrated to ABS-CBN as a main antagonist of Princess Sarah, Miss Minchin, as Xandra in Komiks Presents: Varga, and a special presence in Lobo in 2007–2008. She decided to return to GMA Network to perform Luna Mystica, opposite a former ABS-CBN artist Heart Evangelista.

Cruz was cast as an extra character in the Sine Novela's mid-story, replacing Ara Mina. She was the lead antagonist in the series, and Lando (portrayed by Marvin Agustin) and Lorna (portrayed by Sunshine Dizon in the first three weeks and Nadine Samonte onwards) was the main protagonist.

Cruz was selected by GMA Network to appear in Langit sa Piling Mo as a guest star after her appearance in Tinik sa Dibdib. She appeared in the first season of the GMA reality comedy series Ang Yaman ni Lola and Grazilda.

Cruz made his way to television 5 in 2011 and was cast member of Mga Nagbabagang Bulaklak. After the show ended through the remake of Ikaw Lang ang Mamahalin, she returned to GMA immediately.

She returned to TV5 in 2012 via Isang Dakot na Luha. Cruz returned to ABS-CBN later this year, playing a younger Manang Henya (portrayed by her aunt Susan Roces) in flashbacks. Andi Eigenmann, along with her cousin Sunshine Cruz, appeared in the 2013 action-horror drama Galema: Anak ni Zuma.

Cruz won the P1,000,000 in The Singing Bee on December 7, 2013 with four straight correct answers.

She returned to her home network GMA once more in 2014 and was given a variety of television and TV appearances, including the afternoon drama series Buena Familia.

In 2019, she reunited with Sunshine Dizon and started working in the new drama series Magkaagaw. As she avenged by Jeric Gonzales' play of Laura's daughter, Clarisse, played by Klea Pineda, she played Veron Razon-Santos, an ambitious woman who is Mario's ex-wife turned evil mistress.
