Early life
Stan was born in Constanța, Romania. When he was two years old, his parents divorced. After the Romanian Revolution, Stan and his mother, Georgeta Orlovschi, moved to Vienna, Austria, where she was employed as a pianist. After his mother married the headmaster of a school in the United States, four years later, they moved to Rockland County, New York, New York. He was baptized in the Romanian Orthodox Church.
Stan appeared in performances including Harvey, Cyrano de Bergerac, Little Shop of Horrors, Over Here!, and West Side Story during Stan's time at the Rockland school. He appeared in many camp productions at the Stagedoor Manor summer camp. He was then determined to take acting seriously and began applying for acting courses at many universities. He attended Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts, which gave him the opportunity to spend a year abroad studying Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London, England. He graduated from Rutgers in 2005. In 2002, Stan became a citizen of the United States.

Career
Stan's career began in earnest in 2003 with a focus on Law & Order after an appearance in the 1994 film 71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance. Several film appearances, including Tony n' Tina's Wedding, The Architect, and The Covenant, were followed by Carter Baizen, who went on to appear on Gossip Girl as Carter Baizen beginning in 2007. Stan was a lead actor in the 2009 film Kings as Jack Benjamin. Blaine appeared in Darren Aronofsky's ballet thriller Black Swan and in the comedy Hot Tub Time Machine in 2010. Bucky Barnes appeared in the film Captain America: The First Avenger, based on the Marvel Comics character, in 2011. Despite the fact that it was his first film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it wasn't part of his nine-picture deal with Marvel Studios.
