Scott Westerfeld Life

Scott David Westerfeld (born May 5, 1963) is an American writer of young adult fiction, best known as the author of the Uglies and the Leviathan series.

Early life

Westerfeld was born in Dallas, Texas. As a boy, he moved to Connecticut to work as a computer programmer for his father Lloyd Lloyd. He remembered his father's involvement with planes, submarines, and the Apollo missions.

In 1985, Westerfeld earned a BA in Philosophy from Vassar College. He began writing music as a child and arranges songs for contemporary dance. Westerfeld married Australian author Justine Larbalestier in 2001.

Westerfeld divided his time between Sydney, Australia, and New York City as of 2013.
