The mother of a young Sheffield United fan, who was the beneficiary of George Baldock 's generosity has paid tribute to the former Blades star following his tragic death. Baldock was found dead in a swimming pool in his suburban Athenian villa on Wednesday. The former Premier League defender had moved to Panathinaikos this summer after enjoying seven successful season at Bramall Lane, where he won two promotions to the top-flight. During his time with the Blades, Baldock purchased a defibrillator for a seven-year-old fan, Harvey Smith, who had been diagnosed with a faulty heart valve. The tale of the Baldock's generosity was revealed by his mother Marie Purdy, who explained how their family sought funding for the lifesaving equipment which would allow Harvey to continue playing football.

Marco Silva's side were active in the transfer market over the summer, signing the likes of Emile Smith Rowe, Joachim Andersen and Sander Berge for sizeable fees in bids to improve their squad. Other faces walked through the door too, but one potential deal that didn't get over the line was a move for Lyon star Ernest Nuamah (left), who ended up staying with the French club. The reasons for why that happened, however, have now reportedly come to light, and they involve the 20-year-old supposedly breaking down into tears during the medical and fleeing.

Manchester United have 'made a transfer U-turn' over Casemiro (right), who now looks set to stay put this summer. The Brazilian, who still has two years to run on his four-year deal, followed up an impressive first campaign with a hugely disappointing second one last term (left). He was on the chopping block, along with a number of team-mates, with United said to be welcoming offers for the 32-year-old, who's conditioning had been called into question at times.
