Greta Van Fleet, an American rock band from Frankenmuth, Michigan, formed in 2012.

Formation and early years (2012–2015)
Josh and Jake Kiszka, their younger brother Sam and Kyle Hauck, were both members of the band in Frankenmuth, Michigan, in 2012. Kyle Hauck, a resident of Frankenmuth, heard Gretna Van Fleet, a woman of Frankenmuth; they used the word variations on her name for her (subsequent) blessing. Van Fleet also stated in a later interview that although the band's music isn't her type, she supports the band and thinks they are really talented. At the time when Hauck was the drummer, the band recorded three songs: "Cloud Train," "Highway Tune," and "Standing On." Hauck was forced to leave the band in October 2013 and was replaced as drummer by Danny Wagner, the brothers' close friend. Guitarist Jake Kiszka's initial guitar riff for "Highway Tune" was listed as early as 2010, but it was rereleased as a single in March 2017. On February 28, 2014, a live EP was recorded in a one take and released on June 7, 2014.

The band appeared at Elton John's Academy Award Party on March 4, 2018, at the host's personal request. Onstage at his "Saturday Night's Alright for Combat" and their "You're the One," Greta Van Fleet's John appeared. After the set, Elton John suggested that the band be more flamboyant and flamboyant in terms of appearance and clothing.
