Sally Thomsett Career

Career

Thomsett produced several films for the Children's Film Foundation and appeared in many popular television series, including Theatre 625, Dixon of Dock Green, Nearest and Dearest, and Z-Cars. Jennifer Villiers appeared in The Very Merry Widow from 1967 to 1968, as well as its spin-off The Very Merry Widow and How in 1969.

Despite being 11 years old and Thomsett 20 years old, Thomsett was cast as Phyllis in The Railway Children. Jenny Agutter, who portrayed her elder sister Bobbie in the film, was in fact two years older than Thomsett. Thomsett was contractually forbidden to tell her age during manufacture, and she and her boyfriend were also not allowed to smoke, drink, drive a car, or be seen in public. The film crew was unaware of her true age and treated her as if she were a child (e.g. While treating the younger Agutter as if they were an adult, she was still giving her candy. "I wouldn't want to ask a lady her age," Thomsett said during a BBC children's television show later today, but you're obviously older than the role you played." She was nominated for the BAFTA Film Award for Newcomer to Leading Film Roles.

Thomsett appeared in The Fenn Street Gang and Softly, Softly: Task Force before being cast in the psychological thriller film Straw Dogs, opposite Dustin Hoffman and Susan George, as well as Baxter. With Britt Ekland, we have the same story. Thomsett was spotted by producers Brian Cooke and Johnnie Mortimer, who starred her in the hit ITV sitcom Man About the House as Jo, from 1973 to 1976, which included a 1974 spin-off film of the same name.

Thomsett continued to perform after Man About the House of Commons closed in 1976, appearing in the Wodehouse Playhouse in 1978. Thomsett, who appeared in a Crunchie chocolate bars commercial in 1979, hasn't returned to theatre for a while in order to travel the world. She appeared on stage in a 1987 version of The Cat and the Canary before appearing on stage for the first time pantomime. She appeared in the music video for Doctor in Distress, a charity effort to save Doctor Who from cancellation in 1985. Thomsett's career slowed down after her daughter's birth, but she did appear onstage in 1998 and 1999 in a touring production of The Holly and the Ivy.

Mrs. Thomsett was seen as Mrs. in Peter Pan. During the 2014–2015 Christmas season, Darling appeared at Doncaster Racecourse.
