Russell Hornsby (born May 15, 1974) is an American actor.
Edward "Eddie" Sutton, of ABC Family's Lincoln Heights, as Luke on HBO's In Treatment, as Detective Hank Griffin of NBC's Grimm, and as Lyons in the movie Fences.
Early life and education
Hornsby was born in San Francisco, California. He was a football player at St. Mary's College High School in Berkeley, California. He auditioned for a spring musical and was cast as The Scarecrow in The Wiz. He became very interested in theatre and acting after that, and was heavily involved with the rest of the school drama teams. He went to Boston University to study drama, which culminated in a degree in performance. Hornsby continued his studies at the British American Drama Academy after graduation.
Career
Hornsby's education ended at Oxford and he was later cast in To Kill a Mockingbird (as Atticus Finch), Joe Louis Blues, and Six Degrees of Separation (as Paul). In the late 1990s, he moved to Los Angeles in order to transition to television and film. He has appeared in a number of television shows, including as Detective Marcus Bradshaw and Gideon's Crossing as Chief Resident Dr. Aaron Boise. Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order, and In Justice are among his other television credits. Leon Taylor appeared in ESPN's drama series Playmakers. He has appeared in films including "After the Sunset," Big Fat Liar, Get Rich or Die Tryin', Keep the Faith, Baby, Meet the Parents, and Stuck. Hornsby appeared in Jitney's Off-Broadway production in 2000, where he received a Drama Desk Award and an Obie Award.
From 2011 to 2017, he appeared in the NBC fantasy drama Grimm. In 2018, Isaiah Butler appeared in Netflix's crime drama Seven Seconds. Hornsby appeared in the film Creed II in the same year.
