Rubén Aguirre Life

Life and education

Rubén Aguirre was born in the neighborhood of Santa Anita, Mexico, on June 15, 1934.

Después de Usted (After You, a common term used by his character Professor Jirafales), a book that appeared in February 2015, he discussed the difficulty of finding higher education programs in Mexico during the mid 1950s, since there were so few schools in the country. This is why he moved to Ciudad Juárez, Chihua, to study in one of the country's most prestigious universities, "Hermanos Escobar," where he studied Agricultural Engineering.

Once in Juárez, he would regularly cross into the United States, since "it was so easy to cross the border back then," I recall I would put on my college jacket on and if the gringo would know you were a student, he would let you through." Rubén Aguirre served in El Paso many times as a gardener until the meeting came to an end.

It was in Juárez, as well as elsewhere, where he began his career in the media as an unofficial radio host and bullfighting commentator. His passion to become a radio announcer was so strong that he had to postponed his college education to visit Mexico City and obtain his radio license.

He returned to Juárez and began serving as a radio host; he married Consuelo de los Reyes, a bullfighter who died on a bullfight; then he headed to Monterre, Nuevo León, where he began his acting career and met Roberto Gómez Bolaos.
