Jim Hutton Life

Dana James Hutton (May 31, 1934--1979), an American actor in film and television best known for his role as Ellery Queen in the 1970s TV series of the same name and his screen mate with Paula Prentiss in four films, beginning with Where the Boys Are.

He is the father of actor Timothy Hutton.

Early life

Helen and Thomas R. Hutton, editor and managing editor of the Binghamton Press, were born in Binghamton, New York, on May 31, 1934. Hutton's parents divorced when he was a child, but he never knew his father. He loved sports and playing games with his classmates in his youth. Due to student behavior issues, Hutton was barred from five high schools and a boarding school, but he had high academic and test scores. He received a scholarship in journalism from Syracuse University in 1952 after starting his school newspaper's sports column. When he was inebriated, he was banned from Syracuse after dragging a bulldozer through a bed of tulips near the library.

Hutton began studying at Niagara University, where he began pursuing an acting career. He served in summer stock in Connecticut and La Jolla, as well as state oratory championships. In 1955, he migrated to New York, where he became a "beatnik," according to his own words. He had trouble finding acting work and was afraid of being able to eat, so he joined the US Army.

Personal life

Maryline Adams (née Poole), a teacher, married Hutton. They divorced in 1963. Heidi (born 1959), and Timothy (born 1960). Timothy also played an actor in a Harvey summer-stock production. His father appeared with him. He married Lynni Solomon in 1970, and the family's daughter Punch Hutton was born (former deputy fashion editor of Vanity Fair). Hutton has also had an ongoing 15-year friendship with actress and model Yvette Vickers.

Freddie Mercury's wife Mary Austin is seeking £1.2 million for Bohemian Rhapsody's handwritten lyrics, but did the Queen singer bequeath the legendary scribble to his late boyfriend Jim Hutton?

www.dailymail.co.uk, August 3, 2023
EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE Freddie Mercury's girlfriend Mary Austin, who was selling the contents of his Garden Lodge mansion, has sold Bohemian Rhapsody's handwritten lyrics. But did the Queen warbler actually bequeath the iconic scribble to his last boyfriend Jim Hutton? In a 1994 memoir, Irish-born Hutton said that Freddie promised the lyrics to him before his death. 'Some of my things are still at Garden Lodge,' Hutton wrote. I completely forgot about the Bohemian Rhapsody songs, which Freddie took out of storage for me a year before he died.' Hutton, although Mary was Mercury's girlfriend from 1970 to 1976, was his companion from 1985 to 1991.
