Roy Hudd Life

Roy Huddd, OBE (born 16 May 1936) is an English comedian, actor, host, radio presenter, and researcher who specializes in music hall entertainment.

Early life

Huddd was born in Croydon on May 16, 1936, to Evalina "Evie" (née Barham) and Harry Huddd. When Huddd was ten years old, his father was a carpenter who left the family shortly after the Second World War and his mother, who had a history of mental illness, died by suicide by gas. Huddd was mainly brought up by his grandmother and attended Tavistock Secondary Modern School in Croydon and Croydon Secondary Technical School. He studied commercial art at the Regent Street Polytechnic after finishing his national service in the Royal Air Force. He then worked as a messenger for an advertising company, a window dresser, and a commercial artist under Harry Beck.

In a show to benefit the Sir Philip Game Boys' Club, of which he had been a member, he made his professional debut as a comedian at the Streatham Hill Theatre on October 27, 1957. He began working with Eddy Kay, a friend from Croydon who had also been a member of the boys' club, who later described them as "the peculiar pair." They were the Redcoats at Butlin's Clacton in 1958, alongside Cliff Richard and Dave Allen.

EPHRAIM HARDCASTLE: Amber Rudd breaks the 'men only' rule to be elected to Pratt's Club as 40 members 'threaten to resign' over the decision

This follows the decision of club owner Bill Cavendish, the Duke of Devonshire's uncle, to lift the ban on women in an attempt to resurrect the basement party, which was mainly motheaten Tories. According to reports, 40 percent of them have either resigned or threatened to do so as a result of her election. But there is a drawback for the former home secretary, who will now have to warn all male serving staff'George' and all females 'Georgina', a Pratt's tradition.
