Early life
Ronnie Apteker was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and attended high school and University of the Witwatersrand, where he received an M.Sc. Computer science is a branch of information technology.
Business career
Apteker co-founded Internet Solutions, South Africa's first Internet service Provider (ISP) in 1993. It was a very profitable post-apartheid company, winning numerous technology awards. Apteker has published a number of papers, both locally and internationally. He gave the International Society of Optical Engineering a paper in San Jose, California, on Distributed Multimedia. This paper was later published in the SPIE/IEEE Proceedings.
Apteker sponsored and produced the Laugh Out Loud fundraiser, South Africa's most popular stand-up comedy television show, in 2002. It was raised half a million Rand for the Reach for a Dream foundation.
Apteker is a partner in the video game production company Room 8 Studio, which created titles such as Piano City and Cyto's Puzzle Adventure.
